UCLA didn’t just win — they separated with discipline. From the opening possessions, the Bruins controlled tempo, spacing, and defensive execution, never allowing the University of Iowa Hawkeyes to play comfortably or build momentum in the 88–65 victory. Every phase of the game stayed within UCLA’s structure. Even when Iowa tried to speed the game up or increase physicality, the Bruins stayed composed, connected, and deliberate, turning pressure into advantage instead of disruption.
Lauren Betts anchored the performance with 16 points, establishing deep position early and forcing defensive collapses throughout the night. Whether scoring directly or drawing extra defenders, she controlled the geometry of the floor and stabilized the offense whenever Iowa looked to make a run.
Kiki Rice controlled the game from the guard spot with poise, finishing with 17 points while managing tempo and keeping the offense organized. She didn’t force plays, instead reading the defense and delivering the ball on time, allowing UCLA to stay balanced even during physical stretches.
Gabriela Jaquez added 6 points while impacting the game with strong drives, defensive effort, and connective play that helped UCLA win key possessions whenever Iowa tried to tighten the game.
Gianna Kneepkens added 10 points, stretching the defense and punishing Iowa when attention shifted inside, reinforcing UCLA’s inside-out balance.
Charlisse Leger-Walker also scored 10 points while serving as a steady connector on both ends, keeping possessions organized and preventing defensive breakdowns.
The bench played a major role in maintaining control. Angela Dugalic delivered the biggest scoring punch with 22 points, combining shot-making with defensive toughness and energy that kept UCLA’s momentum strong. Sienna Betts added 7 points and provided strong interior minutes, keeping pressure on Iowa’s frontcourt and maintaining physical presence in the paint. Reserve minutes across the rotation reinforced UCLA’s ability to maintain structure regardless of lineup combinations.
The win over Iowa reflected more than the final score. It showed sustained control, shared responsibility, and discipline across forty minutes. UCLA dictated how the game was played, absorbed physicality without losing identity, and executed through every lineup combination. It was another complete team performance — reinforcing why this group continues to separate through structure, balance, and trust.
Pauley Pavilion was rockin'. Glad to see such a healthy crowd cheer on the Bruins. A solid, solid win. Angela Dugalic was operating on all levels – scoring, defense, and overall play. 💙💛🏀
No one seemed to think the loss of McCabe would hurt Iowa that much. I thought she was their second most consistent player all season and certainly their best outside shooter. So I am not all that surprised Iowa lost big to USC and UCLA. Both are fine teams, but with McCabe I think I would have been a lot more competitive.
you have half the team sitting in chairs. USE THEM!
this announcer calls this an impressive win? iowa gave them the win. give me a break. i see iowa only winning a couple games this month
