Sad to see sexton go glad that we didn’t go cheap at PG so we have a real PG on court when Melo comes on – now if we somehow get Myles turner in a facilitating trade with giannis -‘it will be chef kiss ultimate masterclass by ownership
Sexton is the "stronger" player. He brought a grittiness off the bench. Coby seems like a better facilitator, which is what the team needs. And Coby has a deep range from three, which stretches the floor for the offense, similar to Melo.
Look at the basic utility of this move. Sexton was a sixth man scorer but could not replace LaMelo when he was out. They had to use Sion as the backup point and to his credit did a serviceable job for a rookie but it was a significant drop off when LaMelo was off the floor. Colin was a score first guard not good at setting up others. He turned the ball over too much.. Cody will be a high quality backup point and shooting guard and will make up for Colin's scoring. It will allow Charles Lee another wrinkle to play them together. Lonzo is not necessary now after this trade. Any other addition should be a big either by trade or waiving Connelly and using PJ Hall's availability to the max.
Kobe is cool but he is basically another Colin. Another SG even if he has PG by his name.
I was hoping to get a PG that could effectively run the offense when Melo was off the court.
I dont know if Kobe is that guy. Not mad at it but not what I wanted
