Had this conversation many times at The Loon here in DFW. If you believe that you have a top 10 player all time still playing at a high level you are obligated to go all in because you are likely never going to get a player better than them with the combination of the playoff comfort they have. Guys that genuinely feel comfortable being in the finals and can manage what it takes to get there. Indefensible decisions by those franchises.

Okay its a shame that they werent able to get giannis but this off season they can package the whole lot including porzingis green and whoever they want for giannis.
First of all the Milwaukee Bucks obviously tested trade waters, never having intended to trade Giannis by the deadline in the first place. Second what GSW would have had to give up for Giannis would have left them with no depth plus years of a rebuild while morphing into a team worse than mediocre plus an injury-plagued Giannis. Lastly Giannis was very publicly lukewarm to almost non-commital about joining GSW. Would not have been worth the sacrifice.

Let me tell you the actual genius of what they did. Draymond can opt out clearing 26 million dollars. Kristops will free up another 30 million and there will be another 10 million off the books this season. With increase salaries on contract the Warriors with this Kristops and the Lakers additional pick they got, they are in position to not only trade/sign for Giannis but get another player along side him. Or anyone else. This was not a bad move or holding out at all. They legit can make them a 9 pick offer with 4 first rounds, 3 swaps, and 3 second rounders and tell him that they can sign a player as well. Wiggins for example who is also up. If Dray resigned, it would be Steph, Giannis, Dray, Butler, Wiggins to start. That team is completely cooking.
