INSTITUTIONALIZING LOSING? Kings shift to young players while losses pile up | Locked On Kings

The Sacramento Kings drop their 11th straight, but that takes back stage to general manager Scott Perry’s post trade deadline conversations about the direction of the team and head coach Doug Christie.

  1. We've all been saying the same thing for months – we should be losing with the young players, NOT the vets. That's what OKC did; that's what Detroit did (e.g. Duran was starting as an 18 year old).

  2. The fact he said he doesn't want to make bad decisions after he signed Shroeder to a big a 3 year deal, only to be forced to package Ellis with him a few months later – is height of hypocrisy.

  3. Owners need to be fined for not making the playoffs. $100m each. All that money gets pooled and goes to player/team bonuses for those who do make the playoffs. You'll see teams straighten right up. Rooting for your team to lose is absolutely gross.

  4. James ham has always been my favorite kings beat writer i am so happy i dont have to wait for the kings beat to hear him 😆

  5. James! Doug Christie is not going to last. As an ex. the Jazz Coach Will Hardy has. Coach Christie was elevated to H.C. to soon. His style of coaching is better suited for the College ranks. Loved him as a player sucks as an NBA H.C.

  6. Four games in a row Doug Christie has not had a time out at crunch time and a couple of those games that mattered. What the F? This is basic coaching 101 will you or any other media actually ask Christie what his thinking is by using timeouts so that he has none?

  7. Cardwell’s improvement in such a short time is crazy. Even making FT’s at an acceptable clip recently.

Carter 2 excellent games in a row filing up the stat sheet. Only issue is three point shooting is abysmal right now, but it was for Clifford early in the year too and with playing time will improve.

Even without good three-point shooting he’s a player and if he figures out the three-point shot look out.

  8. I hope they don't break the franchise record of 15 straight but at this point give me more of the young guys less of the over the hill gang and that bum Lavine

  9. Of course, what else is new but "moral victories", you have to find something with the Kangz, from the rookies' performance, to the veterans' underperformance, to Perry's standing firm with the trade come and gone, to Christie's subpar coaching… "Foundational" piece? Good luck with that. Sacramento does not have one. That entire roster is nothing but a bench lineup. The only "foundational" piece is to keep on tanking, an 11-game losing streak is not enough.

  10. Tank this year and next. NIL has improved college BB and hopefully the Kings can pick up two foundation pieces to build around (and attract a supporting cast). Just have to wait out the LaVine, Sabonis contracts or trade them for whatever you can get.

  11. doug Christy nay be better off in the G-League as a head coach, i know he is a good teacher, but not as good as a head coach yet at least.

  12. James when CAN we dive into the conspiracy theories? Even David Stern was responsible for ensuring Shaq went to LA.

  13. Cardwell is our future and im here watching it. I dont care about loses if hes playing and growing. I wanted Kaloni Walker thats on heat couple years ago. This totally makes up for that
