Sometimes it's not up to the team; no FO wants to trade away a superstar, but they put pressure to get them to trade them away, or they implode your team asking for win-now moves. Look at the Nets recently; they went all-in on Harden, had a big three, injuries stopped them from doing anything, and Harden asked out, and then the rest followed. The KD trade alone and its returns have restocked and rebuilt the future of that franchise.
Different examples: If OKC hadn't moved on from Russ and PG, they wouldn't be the juggernaut they are now. Portland traded away Dame, got the assets, and now they have all that back, plus Dame, and no one will ever question if they were holding Dame back from a championship.
I just think that if the Bucks push this further into competing with Giannis now, it will be a hole so massive they won't have a way to dig themselves out of. If after that point he still asks out, well that is the worst place to be in the NBA. Analysts always say it's the middle, but it's being bad, not having your own picks, wanting to win to avoid giving away the first pick in the draft, and just not being able to.
Now, if Giannis signs that extension in the offseason…that will be a whole different story.
Wonderful seeing your best player suffer and your team lose
Damn. Chris Manix isn't bright at all. He needs to stop talking about sports. 70% of his opinions on boxing and basketball are awfully bad.
Left side is pragmatic
Right side is emotional
This is more GA keeping the team on their toes… Kobe did it.. and others behind the scenes probably have done.
Talking only superstar players ..
Bucks have been more active then Cavs/Lebron .. Heat/Butler, Mavs/Luka,
Trade/Hawks, .. they should definitely look to better the roster at least for 3 years until GA starts wearing down
I remember Rachel on the Jump back in 2019, had a journalist on who wrote a story about how Giannis wanted to spend his career in Milwaukee, and Rachel was like “Yeah but what if they don’t win AGAIN in a year or two…he might ask for a trade then!” While rubbing her hands and saying it would be juicy. So I kinda have a hard time believing she prefers he stays forever in Milwaukee because she’s practically been BEGGING for this drama to happen for like 4 years now.
Btw, I say all of this as a Knicks fan, not a Bucks fan.
Team Rachel all the way
They sound like two people in a toxic relationship in love with each other but each won't let go.
Was always a fan of Giannis since he came into the league and the values he seemingly held. Are we not gonna talk about him creating and fueling speculation around a trade and then partnering with Kalshi A DAY AFTER FREE AGENCY ENDS. “The media is talking about trading Giannis because the Bucks are talking about trading Giannis.” “The Bucks are talking about trading Giannis because Giannis is talking about it.” The NBA is a JOKE.
Rachel, I've never heard you cuss!😂❤❤❤❤
Fight, Fight, Fight! 🥊
Around the 2 minute and 20 second mark explains what the problem is. Its similar to what was happening with the Knicks for 20 years. Someone wants to fit things a certain way so they can win instead of just running a basketball team. Make good business and basketball decisions.
Championships are great, the experience of enjoying the games is more long lasting. 93 Leafs always.
How can Rachel argue this. Trash opinion. She’s literally arguing being non competitive because of sentiment
Chris’s rhetoric is nice if you’re a Celtics or Lakers fan and assume someone better will come along. It’s a spoiled perspective.
The other 28 teams feel the way Rachel does: loyalty is worth a ton
I swear Rachel is just drop dead gorgeous. Love that woman
He was booed by the fans! He knew he can’t get healthy and just tried to raise his market value.
No one wants to blame sham and the rest of espn for creating that narrative
Definitely not eligible for the extension until 10/01.
