The Rose Garden (MODA) is a good venue. Definitely worth investing in the city's and region's future for years to come. Continued development between the Lloyd Center site and the Rose Quarter has to happen too.
This isn't the 90s. The Blazers will lget the money to renovate Moda. A nee Arena? Not a F***ing chance. Even if he threatens to move the team.
I’m a fan but these podcasts about the arena are the only ones that I can’t listen to
This is a great example of how only the rich get socialism in America. A private business that keeps all its profits but gets public money to do renovations. Come the revolution, line the owners against the wall and the city gets the team.
No sir, not a chance. I will never follow the team as a fan if the new owner screws over RIP CITY and moves the team. RIP CITY FOR LIFE has 0% to do with Nashville, Vancouver, Seattle, Vegas, etc.. I'd sooner get kicked in the nards by Dutch Savage than to root for the new SuperSonics!
I would like to draw your attention to a small conspiracy theory. mark cuban is trying to buy the mavericks from the Patrick Dumont
if he succeed in doing so the adelson family could join the buying group that Tom Dundon is leading
I also want to remind you that the best israeli player is playing for the blazers, and I dont need to remind you about the connection of the adelsons to israel
if the adelsons are in the picture the blazers are going to vegas !!!
I do hope and wish for the blazers to stay in portland
Can't wait for the public to find out how much Bill Oram was paid to debase himself with these week-long hysterics.
"Scoot Henderson has played more games this season than some media pushing the story have even been to Moda in the last decade. Just saying."
Where is uncle phil when you need him?
The cynical look on his face as his first answer, and even word to Mike is a really solid NO. Had to turn off the podcast at that moment. Reality is fine, smugness in cynicism is unlistenable. He's got a "shining personality", or… Mike, you did him dirty with your editing. Either way, waiting for tomorrow's podcast cause this ain't it.
With nike , adidas north america and colombia , sportswear based out of portland they should get together and contribute. We cannot lose the blazers after fifty plus years! If that team moves, I will never watch another NBA game or buy any name brand shoe ever again. WenHave very little positivity these days, and the blazers are one that is positive. We need them. What about money from ticketmaster? They steal enough of it.
I'm not sure I understand what right the NBA has to dictate to a franchise and an owner whether they need a new arena or not. Of course owners have a long history of pressuring the public to pay for new arenas, but why does the NBA feel the need to pressure a franchise to invest? I DO NOT appreciate Adam Silver's comments.
Thank you Mike for your unique content! The stories beyond basketball that affect the team.
What exactly are the things that the team needs in a new arena? Doesnt seem like enough to justify abandoning a stable and maintained existing structure.
Billionaires sucking off the public teat, who knew? There is no loyalty anymore amongst this parasite class, as if there ever was. Let them eat cake (or smoke crack)…
If these arenas provide so much economic benefit, why don't the billionaires pay for it and own it, granted this is a renovation. I think these arenas tend to be poor investments and would be better spent on infrastructure or education etc. Other than arena events it's an economic dead zone and not a destination. I would not locate a business there. I don't like being strong armed by billionaires. I say this as along time blazer fan.

Arenas and Stadiums do not make money, don't fall for the grift. Taxpayers should not be subsidizing billionaires.
❤
The only thing, only thing that exists to make me think it could come close to breaking even on the renovations. Is that if I remember the reporting correctly, previously Portland was deemed unfit for an Allstar game due to hotels and the arena. With the Ritz (I miss you food trucks), and the arena reno, maybe the league finally throws the bone Portland's way
I just don't know that the all-star weekend (especially the joke that it's become) is enough of an economic boon for the city to offset over half a billion dollars
*If* done right, a renovated arena complex with restaurants, bars, shopping, etc could be a needed boost for a long-struggling city. That being said, as a lifelong frustrated Blazers fan, I think I've reached a point where I'm actually ok if they moved and left Portland. They haven't been relevant in the NBA in 26 years and seem more interested in selling hope than actually winning. Maybe it's just best if they moved to Seattle or Nashville. Portland has never been a major sports town anyway. And the city/state can spend the money elsewhere.
We just had a 1.1 billion dollar surplus in tax revenue and I got a 373$ rebate kicker. Use the rest of that money wtf! Lmfao smh
Are there Nathan McKee works on your wall? The Iverson looks like one … he does great work! I have a Walton and Kareem piece that a friend of mine gave me for Christmas and it hangs over my desk.
Thanks, Bill. Learned a lot.
