“It was phenomenal,” says Udoka on Sengun’s triple-double performance.

Ime Udoka, Houston Rockets head coach:

(On Alperen Sengun’s triple-double performance)

“It was phenomenal. He had the triple-double after three quarters. You know, it wasn’t scoring a lot early. They were doubling, so he made the right read and got some guys open looks, even if we made them or missed them. To your point, though, I think the intensity and focus on defense is phenomenal. He’s moving, protecting the paint, kicking, cleaning some things up. And I had those weak-side shot blocks. And so bring that effort every night, we’ll be in great shape.”

2. 00:26 SOUNDBITE (English) Ime Udoka, Houston Rockets head coach:

(On the defensive turnaround)

“I think to force them into 17 turnovers and 27 points off those and 12 of those being steals that showed our activity was there, it was a good trend for us going from 28 in the first quarter, 24 in the second, to 22 in the third. So we defended better, like I said, a little bit smarter, less fouling, and then got more aggressive and got those steals.”

  1. Şengün was strong and focused; they should support him more, give him encouragement, and help him win every game. Rest him occasionally, and keep him happy; I think this kid can't play if he's not focused. Houston's management and coaching staff need to manage his morale well.

  2. See Alp! All you have to every single night is to score, playmake, rebound, play defense, weak side blocks, steal, stay in front of guards… Oh, and, we don't have a point guard so down the stretch, you are gonna need to bring the ball up the court and get us into sets. Do all that and we will be in great shape! SAVE ALP FROM HOUSTON! SAVE ALP FROM IME UDOKA!

  3. stop throwing him under the bus ime !! you need better shooting in this team, just play the offence through him more, and kd is gonna be free as he never has been, improve your offensive schemes before you blame it on your players! this dude is only 23 an all star snub, and future of houston franchise

  4. he is just a little kid yet and needs your support. he's just 21 but he already got the all responsibility of the team.

  5. İme ,An example that shows that someone who played basketball would not be a good coach. And A person who makes a player look bad to the press can never be a good coach

  6. He’s a terrible coach when it comes to offensive sets. Even Silas was drawing up better offensive sets than him

  7. I believe If Alperen hadn’t been a European player, Ime Udoka wouldn’t have thrown him under the bus with his earlier comments. He played phenomanel which is not a surprise, looking at his character and capabilities. Going fwd Ime and Houston management should motivate him rather than meaningless accusations. He is as important as KD for this team.

  8. You didn't even let him celebrate the win on the court. Pulled him out of the game 9 seconds left to finish, just to have him watch the end from the bench. Also this is not just about Alpi, the way udoka treats the young players is disgusting. Their mentality turned into a rag doll at this point.

  9. You won because there was no Amen Thompson which forced you to play actual guards in Reed and Davison. Having an extra shooter on the court at all times created space.

  10. Moreover, the man is making a sacrifice by taking to the field before his injury heals, because Steven season is over, and he's not leaving the team alone. You're not mentioning this sacrifice; instead, you're badmouthing him in front of the press.

  11. Ime understands who needs hard coaching. Alpi knows he played bad the past 2 games and came out against the Thunder and got a triple double
