Everything is going to plan.
29 more straight losses and a complete turnover of 2/3rds of our team is required. Hoping we get everything done this summer.
I have a list of 10 things lol.
Tanking doesn’t work you get your generational talent who is Cooper then you build around him with smart trades and free agents who have won before just like the Mavs did with Luka.
If Mavs are not tanking then Kidd needs to be fired.
Yeah, but tanking stuff is messing up the game so we’re gonna have to get rid of the incentive to be bad, some of the teams is tanking 20 or 30 games into the season
Make it a rule that if you get caught blatantly tanking twice within a season, knock that team down 4 spots after the lottery. Easy fix
Another idea:
The fundamental solution is to get rid of the draft. However, whenever that is suggested, people complain that small markets won't be able to get talent.
So, how about we come up with a system to determine market size. Some formula involving perhaps tv market size, total endorsement deal value of the players on the roster, jersey sale numbers, etc.
This gets turned into a number that determines the relative proportion of lottery balls a team gets with smaller market teams getting more. The difference probably shouldn't be large, but you'll want enough to ensure that over time the smaller markets get enough extra talent per draft that it smooths out their disadvantage.
There would be no incentive to lose. No incentive to make your roster bad. I guess you could try to juice the numbers by getting marketing your team badly, but I think that'll be easier to police than what is going on now and comes with the built in punishment that you are damaging your profits and team value.
They only care because of gambling.
How is trading street clothes tanking
Mavs do "ethical" tanking. They play hard like they want to win the game, but they are not good enough to close.
Dow jones +10% this past year 🤣
The Jazz, Pacers, Wizards, Memphis, Kings, and even Pelicans even though they will lose their lottery pick are all trying to tank in their own ways. Fining them will not help unless it's substantial. Teams either need to get their pick taken away or a team can't pick in top 10 in consecutive years if found to be tanking games. But I believe the NBA will find a way to eliminate this in the offseason.
Let's keep losing!!!!
The league could try making a lottery elimination tournament. The top 5 worst, or best, placed teams of the lottery tournament automatically get a 10-15 pick the following season if they end up in the lottery again. Worst teams get home court and move on to the next round similar to the college football playoff or the current Champions League format.
It’s honestly so DUMB to tank. People pay THOUSANDS of dollars to see them play for what?
I’d make the draft so everyone in the play in or below has the same chances in the draft, or even better everyone without home court advantage has the same odds in the draft. And the rest 8 team are determined by the number of wins.
Great show nick keep it up brother
Now that Cooper has shown clear signs of being over extended and being affected by nagging injuries due to heavy minutes which could potentially lead to more serious injuries they need to put him on minute restrictions (34 mpg) and load management (no back to backs). Cooper is incapable of managing his work load because he’s a player that plays hard every play and wants to play every minute of every game. The Mavs must save him from himself, plus doing so would increase our tanking odds 😂
Why doesn't anyone talk about how bad the Spurs tanked in the last few years….in last 4 years 3 fist round picks including #1 overall and the number 2 pick last year.
Flagg is 3 yrs ahead of schedule, so you can win now, but Kidd is incompetent. His lineups are crap. Middleton AND KLAY together AND Tyus together??? Why isn't Mousa or even Powell playong over Gaff, who is timid at best. Lethargic. B.Will should start to give Flagg a counterpart who can score. Kidd is terrible.
I'm not buying it 😂
Let the Tank continue-> FOWARD!!!!!!!
"The battle raged, on the front lines. Enemy forces were far more prepared than the Mavericks could imagined. They had no fear, of the loss. Rapid L's were accumulating at a feverish pace. The King's, truly a prized main battle tank, stood alone in the middle of the field. Smoldering and wobbling, yet lurching forward in a menacing ring of fire, challenging any to face them. Truly remarkable. The Pacers were in a Death spiral screaming like a wild ravenous banshee straight towards the depths of the trenches, while the Jazz ditched their tank entirely, and rode ahead on a wild horse. Meanwhile, while the Pelicans pick themselves up once again from their masterfully wrecked battle tank, the Mavericks tank was gaining true strength having lost 9 straight legendary battles, but still marching strong. Across the battlefield the wizards tank, a close ally, made an astonishing decision sitting Anthony Davis for the rest of the season, truly making themselves once again, competition, for the coveted lottery… "
The only way to eliminating tanking is to abolish the draft entirely. But then the problem becomes how to give small market and losing teams equal opportunities to acquire young talent. And teams that are bad because they don't have enough talent and/or healthy players to be competitive will still lose games regardless of whatever bs measures the league puts in place.
Gaff is on the floor after every play..
I hope if the league does do something drastic to address tanking they do it after this year when we don’t have our picks
Personally, I’d rather see tanking than have the same teams be terrible year after year.
If the Mavericks could get six more players with the athletic ability and skill of Cooper Flagg plus keep their centers and Kyrie, then they would be contenders. This is what it takes in today's NBA to a contender. Contender teams require two or three top level ballhandlers to run the offense. They need two or three seven footers to rebound and guard the rim. The rest of the team needs to very athletic six-foot six-inch players or taller that can defend and drive to the basket and most importantly shoot three-point shots. The Thunder, Spurs, and Rockets are all teams that have the combination of players that can make them contenders.
Large fanbase mavs lose 9 straight…small fanbase jazz pacers get hammered.
Go to …..
We haven't gained any ground in the race to the bottom.
We're still 7th. If anything, we've put a little breathing room between us and Milwaukee/Chicago, but Memphis is still on our heels.
I think CP3 would make it good GM.
Please. We're not tanking? lol Oh yeah we're not tanking. That's why we have the most number of close games that we lost at the end of games 😅😂
The Mavs aren't tanking, at least in the eyes of the NBA (so far), because they've got an INSANE number of clutch games. If the NBA is looking at the Mavs as this tanking team, they're at least telling themselves "they're doing it the right way by giving the fans of both teams a good close game to watch".
The Mavs just aren't good. And I knew they wouldn't be. I was laughing at all the talking heads saying "the Mavs are a perfect situation for Flagg, he doesn't have to be THE DUDE right away, blah blah blah". But I was like hold up, Kyrie is gonna miss MOST of the season, and I can't count on AD for a damn thing….so what ya'll talking about? Coop's gotta be THE DUDE and RIGHT AWAY!!!
And it's a blessing that the Mavs have stacked up SOOOOOOOOOOOOO many clutch games so early. That will give them some extra slack in the rope to REALLY go into tank mode later on.
And shit, if the Mavs can add a Top 4 lottery pick AND Kyrie that would be a pretty sweet offseason there. Not to mention cap space to go out and hopefully find a few more Naji role players/dirty workers. Yeah, I could see the 26-27 season being a BIG turnaround for this team. Probably Top 6 in the West and wouldn't get laughed off the court in a series with the Top 2 teams. Especially if Coop comes in with a big Year 2 jump. Starts getting his 3ball cooking, tighten up his handles a bit, start working on his Grown Man Body, etc etc.
