I think tanking is fine but you should or can only do it for 3 years. If your team not making progress in 3 years then wtfff are you doingg 😂😂😂😂
What about the Spurs and other teams that have benefited from this? Why is it such a big deal that the Jazz are doing it now? Fix the game don’t hurt the people that are playing by the rules.
The "go stand in the corner" commissioner.
What a JOKE.
Throw that "integrity of the game" crap back in the trash where the NBA put it. The integrity of the game died the moment they put a live betting odds ticker at the lower third of every broadcast and the announcers started telling us who we should bet on in between plays.
How's about they stop insulting our intelligence on that. The current NBA is not a competitive sport. It's a gambling front.
Watching basketball is definitely not a tankless job.
0:14 Why the serious True Crime-style music?? 😂
What’s funny is the Jazz got fined for for the games against Orlando and Miami in particular. The Jazz beat Miami in Miami. MIAMI SUCKS SO BAD, THEY LOST TO A TEAM THAT WAS INTENTIONALLY TRYING TO LOOSE.
Fines are laughable for throwing games. Maybe take draft picks away for putting a team on the court that can’t compete purposely.
Pat Riley please Chess not Checkers, , We lost the game but Danny Ainge and Company got fined for winning LOL
The spurs should of been fined for this then they been resting player's they full of shit but im glad they starting to crack down
Punish OKC they tanked too !!!! 500k or 100k is a joke. Teams made 500 M a year on fine them with 0,1% . They only laugh and send the NBA the middlefinger !!!
I've got an easy fix, expand the league to two divisions. At the end of the season, bottom 3 teams get relegated to the lower division, top 3 teams from the lower division get promoted to the top division. Promoted teams get the first 3 picks in the draft. All the NBA has to do is consolidate the GLeague to 20 teams and place them in cities such as Kansas City, Austin, Seattle,,ect.
Where was Kharma for OKC?? They tanked, benched a healthy SGA and won the chip
Tanking is ass. Loser should not get rewarded. A lottery should be a lottery anyone can get a ticket
This should be interesting. I guess we'll see how much those draft picks are worth to teams in $$$.
I swear the nba hates the pacers 😂😂
Penalizing a team who lost any chance of playoffs due to injury. And on top of that pascal siakam has barely missed any games. Wtf is the nba now
Haslam… explain OKC’s success without including tanking. Spurs didn’t tank for Wemby?
“Nipped in the bud”??? The bud bloomed decades ago. Don’t insult our intelligence with the faux outrage like this is something new.
Here’s another thought… if Utah really really wanted to lose in Miami they have worse players they could have played. But the goal isn’t to lose. It’s not really to win either. It’s to develop the team to be win in the future. This is a lost season so why would you not want to get your developmental players real minutes that matter? It’s called delayed gratification.
I really enjoy UD
The Pacers getting fined for tanking would be comical if it weren't a travesty. It's like the nerdy teenager getting arrested for their first sip of beer while the kids who are blackout drunk every weekend get a pass because someone's dad is pals with the sheriff. You're not addressing a problem, you're making an example out of an easy target.
They're the least tanking team in the league by a wide margin. I've watched them be mediocre for most of a quarter century because they refused to tank even when it was the smartest thing they could have done. They weren't even planning to tank this year with Haliburton out and a loaded draft until their roster got even more completely wrecked by injuries. Meanwhile Philly did it so long and so openly they had a catchphrase and t-shirts. And they're far from the only ones. It's fucking criminal for Indiana to be grouped with some of these other teams and included in a conversation about the integrity of the game. I don't care about the fine itself. 100k is chump change to an NBA team. It's the subtext of "we're not going to let you make the best of a system we rigged against you."
I've also never seen a player less guilty of "resting while healthy" than Siakam. He's the second most important player to the franchise and basically the only healthy player they have right now. In a season where they'd be justified in shutting him down completely, he's played 51 of 55 games, 34 minutes per game at age 31. Two of those missed games were against other tanking teams as well. After he missed the Golden State game in November he went over 2 months without missing a game. Has ANYONE on the Lakers went 2 months without missing a game this year? He's risking injury to play because it IS the right thing to do. That's the kind of player he is and this is the thanks he gets. Gets his face on screen while people say "this is wrong, it's killing the game, we have to do something".
Tell me how this threatens the integrity of the game while teams paying players under the table to circumvent the salary cap doesn't. Being completely in bed with sports betting doesn't. Players holding teams hostage with multiple years left on their contract doesn't. They should have just had Pascal say he was demanding a trade to L.A. and refused to play until then. Then it'd be player empowerment and Adam Silver would have no problem with that.
Crazy the NBA fining the two teams that have never benefited from the lottery. Question about the implications of this. What if a team wants to give its bench unit reps to develop them in a loosing year and now the NBA can fine you without warning? Imagine your a young guy hoping to earn minutes but your team wont play you for fear Silver and the gambling goons will punish the team.
