The moment your team realizes you’re NOT a #1 option

Paolo Banchero is the NBA’s most deceptive young star. Let’s take a look in detail at how his career has progressed, and do the Magic still see him as their first option down the road?

  1. Damn he helped me win a title in 2k25 I was a point guard n our pick n roll game was amazing smh 🤦🏾 i thought this would carry over into real life

  2. Paolo may not be the most efficient guy. But in the playoffs he dont fall short. He has held his own and been the best or 2nd best player in every series. I definitely dont think coaching has done him any favors. Magic have to run an offense predicated on him. Run an offense that is built around your personnel and best player. Wanting to run and gun and copy other teams is setting people up to fail. Stats and analytics can be important, but they aren’t everything. This is heavily biased in analytics, which again can be valid, but it doesn’t tell the full story. Hoopers know

  3. He's an athletic rui that can't shoot but can handle the ball better than rui… Positionally he's a power forward but he has difficulty defending in the post or switching onto the perimeter

  4. He's not a heliocentric player because his vision isn't like luka & he isn't efficient like giannis

  5. I love that people that do not actually watch the magic play and know a ton of context decide to form the opinion that Paolo is the issue. I guess people will just continue to he ignorant and assume

  6. I’m infuriated as a MSU fan with how little they play Jase Richardson who’s one of the best combo guards as a freshman in college. Elite shooter and clutch shot maker but doesn’t get minutes I understand they have Anthony Black. That’s not a good excuse when Jase starts or plays he plays like a vet that’s one of the best players on the court.

  7. They need to trade Wendall Carter and just play Paolo as a Center because he can’t shoot. At least this way he has to cut to the basket.

  8. For a while I was hesitatant, but now I think the Magic's primary (solveable) problem is the coaching (the injurys are a huge problem, of course, but injurys are often a random occurrence). This season, they want to play fast, that's the right idea (exemplified by the stat that showed, Paolo is a better scorer, when he does not hold on to the ball for longer than two seconds). But when there is no simple option to run the ball out and straight to the rim, you'll see the Magic slow down and whoever has the ball will start to dribble a hole in the ground (it's not only Paolo, AB, Suggs and Bane do that; too!). In halfcourt, most players on the team take way to long to decide what to do, without much happening off ball. That's a clear sign to me that there is no plan in place besides "try to run". But playing truely fast means also to be quick with every decision, to pass the ball quickly, to get in actions quickly, to force constant pressure on defences, to take open shots without hesitation. None of that is happening and I guess to improve, they will have to male some changes on the coaching staff in the offseason. Only then it will be possible to see if Paolo can change his style and adapt to be a more efficient scorer.

  9. I’m usin the magic on my MyNba and his ass does not have the ball all the time. I make sure of it 😂

  10. He just doesn’t shoot very well and his bag 💼 isn’t that deep. I don’t see any real wiggle But he gonna b Ite! It’s like his 4th yr. Def a 2nd option tho

  11. It’s the Magic’ fault they need to make the game easier for him. Post ups and pick and roll as the screener

  12. Naw u right. He more effective playing off ball and I honestly feel Franz the best player on that team but they trying to force him to be something he not. He doesn’t have the bag to be the whole offense and he can’t pass good enough for it

  13. I still believe I him. Bro just needa study Pistons Era Blake Griffin, and get in the lab with Aaron Gordon. The best thing the magic can do for him, is trade him to a team with a winning system… this will either make him or break him. Woulda loved to see him in gsw with curry, or somewhere with Trae young (a playmaker that demands attention, has their own gravity.)

  14. To me his issue isnt talent or ability. Hes got his focus into the wrong area. He wants to he a top tier scorer but hes not that. He could however be an all around demon AND a scorer which would in turn make him a much better player and maybe superstar caliber. Use his size to bang in the paint , run the floor in transition , fight for rebounds . Play defense. Hell when he was in the summer usa fiba tournament. Thats how kerr used him. Almost like a small ball 5 and had him depending the other teams scorers. Actually his defense in that tournament really opened my eyes to what he could become. I just think hes putting too much into being this top tier scorer that hell likely never be

  15. I think Cade has some issues also he can't finish around the rim very well. Last year he was like the worst percentage wise of any player that had over like 250-300 attempts. But I'd rather have Cade all day if I got to choose one

  16. When Paolo enters his prime years he'll be a better player keep in mind he had a groin injury and has gained weight a little bit once a new coach comes around and continues to develop with a new coach watch all how fast yall start kissing a$$ to Paolo after talking smack Trevor Lawrence went through the same look at him now Paolo is the same vote where he will turn it around

  17. I've been saying Banchero would be an early all-star but not great lead since his draft. He's Carmelo/J. Randle hybrid. Just not the guy you want to be a go to player in modern NBA

  18. Interesting you bring up the Jalen Green comparison because I think Paolo would fit great on the Suns. If he’s a number 2 option on a team that needs a complimentary player to Book I think he’d be perfect.

I think there’s still untapped potential but he has to be in the right situation.
