Rockets EXPECTATIONS: Who Has The MOST To LOSE This Season? Kevin Durant, Alperen Sengun & MORE

Houston Rockets face a pivotal post-All-Star break as questions loom over Kevin Durant and Alperen Şengün’s ability to carry the team to the playoffs. Can head coach Ime Udoka spark a turnaround for a roster hit by injuries and inconsistency? Host Jackson Gatlin (@JTGatlin) is joined by weekly cohosts Madison Moore (@MadManLeaks), Brandon Scott (@brandonkscott) and Ben DuBose (@BenDuBose) to dissect the major challenges ahead, from the pressing point guard dilemma and Reed Sheppard’s evolving role to execution issues plaguing Houston’s half-court offense.

Debate heats up on who has the most riding on the rest of the Houston Rockets’ season—will Durant push for a championship run, or is Şengün’s spot as a franchise cornerstone at stake? The crew weighs buyout-market options versus rewarding J.D. Davison with the final roster spot. With playoff hopes on the line and Udoka’s coaching future drawing scrutiny, every decision could reshape Houston’s path. Will the Rockets rise, or is a shakeup on the horizon?

  1. Jackson the reason this team has no future ask the nets ask suns now ask rockets bad trade no offensive no shooting amen was good Jalen and brooks kd is curse amen is overrated can’t shoot alp turnover machine Durant is who he is

  2. I think Ime is a little bit racist against Reed Shepherd….also Stone not getting anyone on the buyout market is sooooo dumb. Also if FVV was your be all end all to a season……you’re a failed Front Office

  3. If you watch recent Rockets games, it tells you everything you need to know. KD openly disrespects all the young guys on that team, Sengun, Amen and Jabari. If he does not have the ball, he's just going through the motions and he constantly misses his defensive assignment and then yells at his teammates. I am sure the guys are sick of this KD guy already.

  4. KD is forever dissatisfied and malcontented with whatever team he is on. Never stays with any team for very long. This says more about him than the players and coaches around him. Moreover, when was on the Suns, he was very respective of not trying to outshine Booker. It was more than obvious.

  5. Biggest issue this year is KD being a turnovers machine. Take him out. His turnovers destroy the team defensively as well. It seems he looks down upon his teammates and does not care about anything else but shooting the ball and doing turnovers all the time. He is like a Kid who just wants to amuse himself whatever the consequences.

  6. From now on, my claim is big. What is this claim? Without KD, the Rockets will play better and more consistently. You won't see that turbulent game. But know that if KD stays, this team will not respect or support KD. Because we have a saying "a fly is small, but it makes you sick".Because of KD's latest fake account news in the media, I don't think the team will respect his like they used to (even if it's a lie). There will definitely be a coldness between the team and KD. And coach can't fix it.Last year this team was better and more harmonious without KD

  7. Rockets need to put a dress code on the players, bring back the suits! It’s professional and it will be a subconscious move that makes them show up to be professional at their job

  8. Udoka lost the Finals with Boston against GSW because he has just zero offensive IQ! And sometimes he cant find solutions on defence as well. Constantly blaming players instead of thinking about his own issues. Alpi isnt a bad defender, you are just a clueless coach. Get a damn offensive Coach, man!

  9. Teams are giving Alpi Şengün no breathing room.

Alperen isn't getting any help from the team.

Alperen is being bullied by Kevin Durant.

But they expect him to be a superman, like the great Alpi.

Alpi is always friendly, always acts kindly.

    But he's very smart.

    They shouldn't think he's naive.

    In my opinion,

Kevin Durant, who should be acting like a teenager and causing trouble, should redeem himself,

and if he's injured, he should quit basketball.

He shouldn't expect everyone to be his servant.

  10. At what point do you guys start discussing what things will look like next season with Amen's potential contract size and what he's shown this season? Last year this time, Jackson was saying Amen may be the best player on the team next season (this year). He and Alpi are the same age. Despite playing with injuries, Alpi is still noticeably better than Amen.

  11. Best Episode of the Season !!!! Well done . I’m 💯 percent in agreement with B Scott. Give JD Davidson the back up PG duties he is solid & can shoot and has very good tempo. Start Reed at PG & Move Amen back to his more natural role of a slasher / off guard. That will help the entire team 🤟🏼🔥🚀 Let’s Go Rockets

  12. I did not expect Jackson to say Udoka 😂 I think this actually the best answer because I think you can argue Udoka isn't utilizing any of his players to their true strengths other than Steven Adams

  13. Several very aggressive antiKD trolls in the comments section. No point of arguing with them. Ignore them because they contribute with nothing constructive

  14. Miami Heat fan here, you guys are morally COOKED HEADING INTO THE 2ND HALF OF THE SEASON….UNDER ON KEVIN DURANT PROPS, AND UNDERDOG TEAM MONEYLINES GONNA BE FUN 2ND HALF OF THE SEASON ❤😂

  15. I want to contribute on your expectations regarding Alpi, since his performance is wavy in the last couple of months and there are many criticisms around it. I think many people miss out the fact that without proper PG, he is the main facilitator on offense, since he can deliver and handle the responsibility. Building on that, rockets has the best player for that position (FVV). Fred is not just an another veteran PG, he is a leader, not shaken in defensive positions and a outside threat. Also when you loose a player like Brooks, you lost your sort of D.Green on your team. A defensive strategy cannot be rely on a one position player (if you are not Wemby, Rudy etc.)since it is a much collective effort and when you loose your frontcourt players, the defence is collapsing. Same argument can be applied to Amen as well. When your responsibilities increases at one end, you need to reduce at the other side. I am pretty sure if Fred will return healthy and the squad is more balanced, players like Amen and Alpi will thrive and deliver way more than current season.

  16. KD basically admitted that he doesn't care about his turnovers because he can't trust the rest of his team so….more deflection from him. Doesn't want to play D doesn't want to stop turning the ball over and he'll do both when Sengun and Amen learn to shoot. I know yall all have reason to gas up the Rockets so Tilman can invite you guys to mardi gras or whatever but we are screwed and interest in this team is going to plummet.

  17. Rocky and rockin' season for the Rockets. For all the complaints and concerns, Rockets still top 4 in West. Top 5 on defense, top 6 on offense. In a "brutal western conference". More hopium than copium.

  18. Reed playing 10 fewer minutes than Fred (last season) but is averaging about a point less, fewer turnovers (1.3 vs 1.5), much better 3P% (39% vs 34%), exact same stocks (their steals and blocks are exactly the same) and about the same number of rebounds (2.6 vs 3.7). Again Reed is doing this on 10 fewer minutes.

  19. Raphael Stone should be under the biggest brightest spotlight. This Rockets roster is just too lacking if the organization is serious about postseason after saying they were going all in after KD trade. Stone's lack of moves and his lack of fight (see press conference) before and at trade deadline has earned all the scrutiny, to be placed under the most intense microscope, more than any other person in entire franchise.

  20. KD turnover cause the Rockets to loose the games . Tired of hearing that Amen is not a shooter or point gaurd Amen is a versatile player . You all know KD is a problem

  21. I just wishing this march can be like a culmination of all we’ve been trying to do and failing like good shooting lock down D an the Alp to start the year

  22. Rockets cannot rely on being historically elite OREB/REB/2nd chance points advantage, without Steven Adams. Some of that previous elite offensive advantage will have be made up by increasing their 3PA volume and that means playing Reed more minutes.

  23. Not expecting Rockets FO to add buyout player. At most, Stone more likely to just sign JD and at worst, just stand pat – do absolutely nothing.

But Rockets should add another big (preferably a young guy) to back up Clint Capela. Rockets cannot afford to rely on Clint to carry entire load of backup 5 for remainder of season and into playoffs, especially as winded as he has been when playing more than 15 minutes. Plus injuries happen. Sengun cannot be the only playable center in postseason, that would be disastrous and a sure sign of self sabotage.

  24. Agree with Ben, Rockets desperately need another big. And also agree with Madison, need another table setter. Sign 6'10 Ben Simmons to play backup 1 and 5. Simmons is definitely an Ime guy (tried to acquire him last season) and Simmons was surprisingly effective for Clips in playoffs last season, especially vs Nuggets defending Jokic. We already know that KD misses him. 😁

Seriously, Ben Simmons would be a huge upgrade to this underperforming bench unit, and so much more positionally versatile to other options like Lonzo Ball or Jae'sean Tate (love you dawg!). Lonzo would just be another DFS – still injured, inefficient and unproductive this season.

  25. We're about to find out what kind of leader Ime rly is. The KD burner stuff could blow this team up or make the guys mentally tougher
