Solid episode. Appreciate you guys taking the time to break it down
I have a commented in a while, but I like this Locked On combo 👍🏾
Only time will tell with the McCain trade. However, where are you going to get 4 picks for a player averaging 6.6 ppg.
Actually NONE of these expected transactions has happened yet, and its not clear when they will happen.
Cam Payne has some logistics to complete.
And it may be advantageous to wait on the Walker promotion, to make sure no one promising is going to become available. Its called due diligence.
In worst case, can add another 10 d, to make sure roster is at 15, so that the now three 2-Ways can play.
Martin is considered a Wing, at 6'6".
Now all 3 2-Ways will be lengthy Wings competing for What?
Payne will only take home about 230K Net, after paying 875K to cover his buyout.
Why has no one figured out that these guys have limited availability except for Beauchamp who can be active for 27 of the last 28 games.
If signed by Thursday, Tyrese Martin will only be available to be active for 15 of 28 games.
Dalen Terry can only be active in 17 of the remaining games.
No Keith, its not likely about next season.
Lowry can absolutely be waived and one of the 2-Way Wings can be promoted for almost nothing, at the very end of the season.
You guys were screaming a few days ago and couldn't believe that Morey knows what he is doing. Morey's team plays chess. They had it worked out by the time of Morey's press conference, calculating 5 steps ahead. Not mentioned is YES, the Sixers will end up just under the Luxury Tax with these moves.
The 3.415 M Barlow signing made it a challenge, which fans don't understand and didn't believe that Morey was telling the truth about trading McCain was in part to make consummate the Barlow signing.
Even right now, its only about 99% sure that the Walker signing is a lock to happen. Something else could come off the buyout market. But Morey likely has inside knowledge and doesn't expect anyone good to still be bought out.
I believe that the Sixers were trying to lower the contract value of Jabari Walker as to why he wasn't playing much lately.
After analyzing the partial terms of Walker's expected contract (released by Mike Scotto), Its a prorated minimum for this season (about 0.72 M if signed by Thursday) and a 2.584 M minimum for next season, but without about a 275 K partial guarantee.
Yes, there should be concern about Embiid's Right knee now. Last time we thought it was just overcompensation for his left knee.
Now we know that is not the case. There is no guarantee he will be cleared to play on Thursday vs ATL.
I now expect Embiid to have a Right knee "cleanup" this summer. I'm confident it will solve his problem. I just hope he doesn't delay the surgery, so that he's available for start of training camp.
Keith, you should have more insight about what Morey/Nurse may be up to.
It is absolutely possible to waive Kyle Lowry at end of season, so that he can become a full time Asst. Coach for the post season.
Then one of the 2-Ways can be promoted.
Wrong Keith. March 1 is only the deadline for a team who buys out a player to be eligible for the post season.
Many other players can be signed up to the last game of the season. Don't you remember Ricky Council IV getting a promotion with 1 day left in the season?
That is why I have it as 50-50 that Lowry will be waived after April 9, if one of the 2-Ways is too good to ignore. Most likely Beauchamp.
About getting some rebounding help?
If anyone wants to know why Cam Payne only got a Rest of Season deal, its because for Cap purposes, it only counts as a 2 yr prorated salary,
The NBA pays a few hundred thousand extra that he takes home.
Had Payne be signed to have an option for next season, he would have counted as a 10 year veteran and his base salary (for Cap purposes) would have been 3.63 M instead of 2.296 M). That difference would have put the Sixers over the Luxury Tax, after all transactions were complete.
I don't understand why Morey can't explain these things. He must think the average fan wouldn't understand or doesn't need to know (ie he's arrogant).
And as I explained, even with the supplement Payne will receive from the NBA, he's almost working for free, after all the expenses involved.
He just wants to be back in the NBA.
We likely need to best the Knicks or the Celtics in the first finals round. Can we offload Kyle ?
it's time to get rid of morey none of the moves he makes make any sense and have no impact on team progress or success
Walker's 3 point shot should improve throughout the rest of the season.
I think this is the squad they'll compete for the championship with this season.
