If they renounce the cap holds on LBJ, Rui, Maxi and Kennard as well as the lingering cap holds of Dwight, Carmelo and Bradley; that would open $128,408,089 in cap space. That doesn’t count DA or Smart possibly turning down their player options or the $15ish million AR is on the books for his Player Option. Say Smart and Ayton both accept their options, and they sign AR to $40,000,000 a season, that still leaves plenty to offer Kessler and Watson contracts their teams won’t match, and still have a minimum of $20mil to spend on the market, even if they keep their draft pick. It’s all about renouncing cap holds, which for some reason teams tend not to do for some reason

On what planet would a late first rounder this year and two first round pick in 6 and 8 years get you back Giannis? None. Even if this is his “preferred destination,” some team can offer more as a rental player. Any trade for Giannis would have to include Reaves and Thiero, the only two assets.
What's the point of having a superstar if the front office can't build a good line up around him. Shaq and Kobe still took 4 yrs before winning and it took a Hall of fame coach to make it possible.

If LBJ wants max salary send him packing. He's good but not worth the max salary. Give that burden to Cleveland. If we acquire Giannis then we will still be hurting. Our bench players truly stink. Lakers should be building and filling where our voids are. In essence Giannis would be replacing LBJ so we'll still be lacking depth
Lebron shouldn't be welcomed back regardless of anything, you have to move on and start to really build around Luka in the off season.

Lakers need to move on from Bron if they want to maximize Luka and shorten the window of building the best tea around him.
They appear to have started. But what does this mean going forward?
-LeBron cannot be a priority at ANY level:
–NO decisions are run by him
–NO decisions factor around him
—He will have to fit with the players moving forward, they should not have to fit with him (this appears to already be in play to some extent)
–IF he wants to return, it will be at a drastically reduced price and team friendly.
–AND OTHER contracts will take priority far before even thinking about his:1 or 2 high level role player additions or starters, Reaves, Smart, Kennard, and what to do with Rui.
–Bronny is gone. No contract. No more taking up a roster spot. If he wants to do a 2 way contract and not take up a roster spot, that can be considered
to give in to any of the above, would be slowly nudging off the band aid.

Lebron should have been a bit under max this last year. I think he was irritated about something and stuck to the contract. Next year, I think 20 million is probably a fair price as he is dropping in minutes and consistency, but he's damn good. However, he wants a championship, giving up a bit more might go a long way.
We need DEPTH.
