Acuff is the best PG in college, I understand his NBA concerns but as far as production in college….he’s PG1

Acuff, Flemmings, Brown Jr and Wagler all fit well on the team. Any of the above is a win for the mavs. Now, if we get “LUCKY” again might be able to get Caleb or Cam. Mavs in a good spot.

I've been saying for awhile Acuff is the guy. Is is the next Allen Iverson. He can drive, finish, dish, and shoot.
I really enjoyed this one, and I appreciate your assessment of Acuff. I'm a Razorbacks fan and a Mavs fan, and I've been pounding the table for Acuff to Dallas. I like the idea of him learning under Kyrie. With the Mavs not having full control of their pick over the next 4 years, I'm fine with them playing the long game with this pick (especially with DAJr. being as young as he is).
His offense is elite but his defense is the question. If he can't be a good defender than he will need to have the ball in his hands to be a net positive. That's not ideal when your first option is Coop or Kyrie. He's a dawg, just doesn't have the tools to be a good defender. Might be a draft and trade later down the line..
I think out of the top guards, Acuff is the best at playmaking, especially in the PnR and lob passes.
He'll be good option, but i don't think he fits best next to Cooper because another way i evaluate players is, what can you do besides what you're already good at?
I think he's shown to be better on the ball than off the ball, which i kinda don't like because you want Cooper to have the ball.
I don't think he's shown to put a good amount of effort on defense, his size is a concern but i just don't think that's the issue. Im not a professional scout, but i clearly see when he's guarding 1. he's obviously small, but whenever he's going over or under screens, he barely fights the screen and that gives open shots. Does kind of easily lose his man when they're scrambling on defense. Doesn't get a lot of steals.
I genuinely think he's not smart on defense and hasn't shown enough effort on defense imo.
I wouldn't want the Mavs to draft specifically Acuff because i don't think he's a good fit with Cooper, but if the Mavericks fall in draft and Acuff is there as the best available player, i wouldn't be upset drafting Acuff. He's still good at scoring and playmaking
Acuff is clearly the best guard in this draft class, he should be clearly top 5 on every mock boards as this point. He's so good that athleticism and his height is their only concern about bcoz they can't say anything about his game. His stats says it all and eye test are beating these "small guard analytics" like being a small guard doesn't have any advantage too lol
