What’s keeping the Raptors from becoming contenders?

Will and Alex discuss the Raptors’ late game struggles and what it will take to get them to the next level. Also, they are joined by Amar Wala, a long-time Raptors season ticket holder, but more importantly, the director and producer of “Shook,” a Canadian drama film that is now available for streaming on Crave.

  1. What happened to that great 4th quarter offence the Raps had earlier this season?

And the 4th quarter point differential was great.

  2. @will lou its a simple answer. whats keeping the raptors from being contenders. its called lack of talent.

you see no team likely has ever won a championship with out a legit number 1 scoring option. raptors dont have a legit number 1 scoring option. ingram is a 2 only like siakam. scottie barnes is a 3 or 4th option. maybe 3 games a year scottie might be considered a 2, and the rest he is a 4th or even 5th scoring option. its like the sun shining on the dogs ass twice a year.

  3. I think everyone is missing the big picture….If yesterday was a playoff game, We're probably winning by double digits.

These clutch moments are by design/experimenting with lineups. Give Ingram these End of game chances. If it works it works, If not, make them believe that's your only play.

There are a lot of development moments.
We went with the opening starters down the stretch, when was the last time we had that?

Don't make teams look your way before the playoffs.

  4. Will Lou in October: “I would be thrilled if the Raptors are a top 6 playoff team”
Will Lou February: “why are the 5th seed Raptors chokers and not contenders?”

  5. As a fan watching from home, yes it was a really fun game to watch, but then you can’t help but roll your eyes at some of the plays down the stretch.
    1) why are we starting a clearly uncomfortable and probably injured CMB to start the 4th…Even Jack and Matt calling out how awkward that lineup was, having not seen it once during the game. You had Barnes who was playing incredibly well on defence who had sat the almost the entire 3rd!
    2) The half-court offensive sets were horrendous in the closing minutes…too many forced passes.
    3) Why not play TJD? We got him to play big and tonight we played 2 legit big men and didn’t even try to get him some minutes?

Realistically the team as is aren’t contenders IMO. I think if Indy and Mil were healthy, we’d be in the play in.

Keep up the great work on the pod guys! No hate on the emotion/yelling. A lot of us feel the same 😂way

  6. @will lou your honesty and passion is what makes your channel great. If that means you need to crash out and level criticism at the coach and players, please keep it up.

I don't know what other markets are like, but there's a weird culture amongst the Raptors fanbase that wants to coddle the players and the team. They confuse delusional optimism with being positive, and criticism of the team/players as being a hater. I'm a die hard Raps fan, watch every game, but I am objective in my assessment of the team. What's the point of putting your head in the sand? Smh

And the answer to your question is that the Raps are poor at shot making and shot creation. It is a fundamental flaw that caps this team's ceiling as a mid level team. What we need to reach the next level is a 3 and D wing who can shoot 38-40% on threes, and most importantly, a guard who can create and make their own shot…tough shots under pressure. This will relieve BI of the constant double teams and put IQ and Scottie in their proper roles…Scottie as a connector and IQ as an off ball threat that can knock down shots and attack a close out. Maybe Walter and/or CMB can turn into the 3andD player? Let's hope. As for the guard, maybe we can find a gem in this year's draft since we have no financial wiggle room to add via free agency.

Appear weak when you are strong, and strong when you are weak.”

  8. I enjoy a good basketball crashout every once in a while and I thought yours last night was well earned by Darko and the team

  9. I need Raptors fans and media to get the fuck up whenever they discuss Kawhi like it's pathetic😭

  10. I said many times but wanted to say it again, BI is just a nice guy same as DeMar. We all know what DeMar was up to in Toronto

  11. Will absolutely nobody said they didn’t enjoy that. That was fantastic and passionate. NOBODY SAID DONT CRASH OUT. That was valid man.
