  1. The defense liability thing been a gimmick. Udoka was a 6’6 bruiser as a player the way he coaches you can tell. No creativity, or common sense that Reed’s archetype is the answer to their problems

  2. On any other team he's starting if your starting point guard is out. But Udoka is a defensive guy, you have to display your defensive chops to start. The thing is Reed is a non-standard defender – hard to measure his value. When you look at his blocks+steals – – – he's good in my book, give him the minutes!

  3. Reed was always an excellent shooter. Unfortunately, Udoka didn't give him enough minutes to adjust to NBA.

Jalen as a rookie had 35 mpg while Reed had 10 mpg.

  4. Reed turns bad passes into assists. The amount of 3's he makes off bad passes is very impressive. Most 3 point shooters would be out of rhythm

  5. Dumb bleep Udoka always kept Reed out the game on last push near the end of the game, this kid is an offensive threat, he makes smart pass, shooting 3s with confident. Rockets 3 points suck except Reed

  6. Not going to harp on Ime. Rockets have been needing to protect Green from getting bad habits. Reed has essentially been getting groomed into a superstar, wins aren’t the goal if it costs them another start player. Rockets do not want to burn him out like they did with Jalen Green.

In essence, Rockets traded away Green because they know Reed and Amen are going to be the future at guard. But they have decided that they will not botch another youth developmental project, which they did with Green.

  7. I can't wait to see a guy like Steve Kerr training the Rockets. Udoka is an excellent coach, but for this Rockets team become a Championship team or even a dinasty they need more than excellent, they need a Coach who can get the best outta his players, and create a system who each one of them is gonna bring something. Unfortunatly, some players will have to leave. If i could say, the cornerstone for this Rockets team is Sengun, Reed and Tari Eason. They are guy's you can count on always. Amen is so good, but his lack of Shot and the fact that he can't control the game's pace and be a floor general screw him up.

  8. I think he should start dude. Hes proving hes of that caliber and stock. I like him being around all shooters too minus Sen hub or Amen. Tari Jabari or Amen?

The Rockets need a PG. Hes the damn PG. Not Amen, and not anyone else. Freddy V is hurt and its all to obvious the Rockets struggle to get anything going without that Fulcrum to get everything started. The offense looks very unstable when he isnt making the decisions bringing up the ball. Start REED SHEPPARD!

  9. The fact is I tire of him getting scrutinized defensively. He played one yeah semi pro(college) made pro, rode the pine, and not hes getting his actual shot.

He hasn't had the time to become this lock down guy on an nba level because of the lack of real in game time and overall lack of experience which hes getting now.

The criticisms have been less than fair in my opinion. He will get better is all I been saying because well that's what young players usaully do in the nba.

I've seen soo many brain farts from him defensively that signaled "Rookie" "Green Horn" "Kid". He's just now learning how to guard professional level guys.

His focus obviously has been his offensive ability. It's crazy to me how some of these critics seem to have no patience with a young rook to develop his abilities.

Udoka has been a huge disappointment this season unless he purposely did this to make Reed this much hungrier and at the same time limit the amount of tape play off opponents would have on him.

You can tell Reed is so anxious to get the ball and shoot when he's out there.

Start that Young man he has awesome hands and thee instincts are there they just need refinement which will come with on ball experience and in game playing time.

  10. His defense has improved so much over the season, he doesn’t really get blown by, and makes solid plays throughout the game. His offense is essential for a Rockets team that desperately needs spacing. He opens up so much space for Amen, KD, and Sengun. He also allows Amen to play in a more natural dunker spot position where he thrives.

  11. im a rockets fan and i truly dont understand ime udoka, it seems like he dont trust reed but rockets get better with him everytime he is on the floor, if ime dont understand that we might lost in 1round

  12. Reed's defense is better than Amen's offense. They both have glaring deficiencies, but Amen's offensive deficiency is so bad that teams can afford to simply not care about him on that end of the floor. I'd still take my chances with keeping Reed in for the offense. The Rockets need it bad.

  13. Not only does he deserve to start, he deserves to be a potential future MVP. Nash did it back to back. Reed could one day just get it once.

  14. this kid is very good, he singly helped the team win a handful of games by taking over. not many players can just take over in the 3rd or 4th quarter and go bonkers. if they trade him for anybody, I will quit watching the rockets. he has a very huge upside and were just scratching the surface with reed.

  15. his offense makes it easier for Alp/KD/Amen trumps his defense…. Coach just is stubborn, he wants the team to be known for D, but this years team's D is average. The team should lean more into the offense.

  16. I’d still like to know. Who plays defense in the nba. It’s a joke. The nba is like an all star game. Dunks and 3 pointers. Rest on defense

  17. Reed has physical limitations that mean he sometimes gets pushed off the ball or whatever, but he has quick hands and he gives a shit on defense. Defense is a combination of effort and organization. To me, if you can't figure out a team defensive structure with the talent that Reed has, then that's a problem with the coaching staff. We have a million guys with length and strength that should be able to make up for having a guy who is 6'2 and plays with anticipation. He's not Earl Boykins or something (No shot to EB who was amazing in his way too).
