I think it shouldn't be ignored that the game was on the edge of getting out of hand until the Bones spurt in the 2nd, and that realistically they needed another tactic to mitigate the Ant double in the underperforming 1st.
Forcing the Wolves "others" into jump shots, when Denver's rim protection is notoriously some of the worst in the league, is inherently a trade-off a lot of coaches would take against the Wolves and it's been exposed in both WCF when the jump shots dried up and Ant had to work too hard to get his looks.
Why they aren't running Iverson cuts or FT-line post-up action with him, is really mind-boggling to me? Just watched Lakers employ their immediate double on Kawhi and Lue immediately goes to FT-line action because that double is weaker and more exploited. They'll see this defense from jump in virtually every playoff matchup, and can't afford to not have every tool at their disposal, so would like to see them run something to that effect in the regular season.
This is some of the best basketball ive ever seen if im completely honest.. and im a student of the game. Coached AAU HS.. I expect no less from this team, anything less is unnacceptable they are waaayy too talented
The Wolves have a tendency to get bored or lazy. When they want to show up, they're one of the scariest teams in the league – we've seen it against OKC, the Spurs, and now the Nuggets. I think its why it has been a surprise that the Wolves made the conference finals 2 years in a row – when they turn it on, they're scary. It would just be nice if when they turned it off, they didn't cosplay a G-league team
full game breakdowns are good. but so are the focused takes. just keep doing the best x's and o's wolves content on the web, however you feel like making it, and we'll keep watching.
Really happy they let this team stay together and just added to it. These teams are too fast to move parts every deadline and offseason another year together only helps come playoff time
That was a great breakdown. I do love the individual storyline’s too. I think after big wins I want to relive the game again and being able to watch this sort of breakdown is huge. These breakdowns also mean more when it’s against a team that we will probably see in a play off series. It gives us something to look for, such as the double team with Jokic breakdown. Very enjoyable and love your work 🙌
Re signing SLO MO is such an underrated move too! He will be a great help in the playoffs to help with Bigs and some wings. You can actually have him, and Jaden in the same line up now since McDaniels is a much better shooter than he was two years ago. Jaden, SLO MO, Gobert, and Ayo is a lot of length!
I know this is a bit of bathing in the afterglow of a big win… but this is my fav video of yours so far this season.
I'd love to see more of these for the remaining games this season vs. other contenders!
I agree that Donte made a lot of backbreaking plays, especially that transition 3 after his steal, then when he broke up that 3 on 1 transition (that Rudy ran down to get the rebound on.)
So @1:13 then, it seems like they need to be looking to lob to the backside player! (Naz had a major mismatch down low). But let's not forget Aaron Gordon is a huge loss on both ends for the Nuggets. Also.. Dante fending off Jokic.. shows just how tired J had to be at that point. Is it wrong to say that Joker just isn't as fit as he could/should be?

Excellent content, as always!
Thank you for your always excellent insights. I can't help hoping that every Timberwolves coach watches your videos or shows them to the team! lol
This is the kind of game that makes me glad we kept it lowkey at the trade deadline

A 6 foot ten inch spider 🕷!
T-Wolves to win it all.
Really encouraged by Ant's process and commitment on offense in this game. Good stuff.
Credit to Rudy. He was forced into being a playmaker with every AE double team and appeared to make the right decisions.

Randles has been garbage last handful of games
Every step Ant-man takes in maturing his game. He becomes more unstoppable. If we can keep a good team around him He’s getting multiple rings here.
Jake keep killing it brother, one of the best things about being a wolves are these videos!

Wolves b firmly in Nuggets heads.

Donte is tough.
