  1. The arrogance is too much. French are like that. Brother you are good, but DPOY while Jokic cooks you every time, and now you want the MVP as well? Hell no.

  2. Minutes shouldn’t be the factor, it should be games. This rule started because players were sitting out games unnecessarily that fans paid a lot of money to see. Leave it at 65, either you make it or you don’t.

  3. They should maybe just scrap that number of games thing entirely. If someone has played less than 50 games then they will probably not be in the discussion for any of the awards anyway.

  4. When you know that Maxime Raynaud of the Kings might play with him on the French national team this August, after graduating from Stanford in 2025 with a double major in mathematics and computer science… journalists better do their homework. 😅

  5. 日本語訳で閾値という単語を聞くことになるとは思わなかった。素晴らしい翻訳だ

  6. He just broke down why it should be a minutes played limit not a games played limit in 2 minutes. Adam Silver, you’re fired.

  7. since defense isnt only shot blocking and perimeter defense tehy should probably split dpoy into 2 categories. at the end of the day they have so much awards so having one more wouldnt hurt i think

  8. This is the world we live in, where someone doing basic math goes somewhat viral. That's how bad it's gotten. None of that math is hard at all.

I suppose what is impressive here is that he is young, and the education system (at least here in NA) has not done a good job teaching math skills. How can I say that? I ran multiple businesses employing his age bracket, I go to many stores where I give cash and kids freak out at the mere thought of doing math, and have interactions with this age bracket for work multiple times a week. Small sample size? Maybe.

But my hunch here is that they're doing a better job in the maths on other continents.

But again, this should not be remarkable. This is truly easy math to do in one's head. But why learn math when you can just plug numbers into your phone for answers! Yay!!!!

  9. It's been said a lot about the alien, but I'll say it again. It is so refreshing to hear this guy give genuine answers to things. The corporate machine hasn't swallowed him whole yet. We need to cherish this. It won't last long. He will eventually become the sponsorship safe sanitized robot that 90% of athletes end up becoming.

  10. Two multiplication and a percentage is impressive? That's normal in France, how much did education standards drop in the USA? 😂

  11. Good math but he is no genius Patrick Ewing is the real genius with we make a lot of money but we spend a lot money . He's math is high level stuff

  12. These interview clearly shows the intellectual side of Wemby that most players dont have. Maybe they can add that criteria for choosing MVP.

  13. It becomes even harder when you consider that he’s not a native English speaker. You might be fluent in the target language—English—but when it comes to calculations, your brain tends to slow down, and you’re not as quick as you would be in your native language. Don’t forget that the Nazis used to identify spies by asking them to perform calculations in German.

  14. HUMBLE… TEAM PLAYER…. INTELLIGENT….. US NBA fans aren't ready for Europe 😂 The reason I watch the NBA is Wemby and Jokic. The reason the NBA blows is old stars flopping and new trash crying for fouls all game long….

  15. It's so sad that people are impressed by simple math. I'm glad Wemby will be able to count change after his ankles won't hold up anymore in year or two. They will make him a manager at McDonald's.

  16. The 65 games mark always seemed so random to me, I think 62 makes a lot more sense because it equates to 75% of the season and rounds up the missable games to 20 which makes it easier to remember. I would also increase the minutes played in the game to 24 so you have to play half the game. These changes would actually end up increasing the required time played overall but at least those numbers would make more sense and not look so random imo.

  17. A room full of adults being completely amazed by basic arithmetic. This country is cooked.

  18. […] this is extremely basic and easy mental math.

This is awkwardly cringe that so many people are impressed by this.

Not hating on Wemby. Good for him.

I'm not even trying to toot my own horn or be antagonistic. I'm dead serious I could do this in elementary school.

  19. The worst thing isn't even that so many people can't do 4th grade math. It's not that they are impressed by someone's ability to do it. The worst thing is that they feel so little shame that they will go straight to the comment section and show the world how ignorant they are.

  20. as an european… to me that sound quite normal, he wasn't exeptionally very quick but I wouldn't be either if I were "under the spot" with so many people around, so, is quite usual that you redo your math two or three ties before you speach

  21. Ngl seeing Americans freak out over a little Math is the funny part in this. In France we’re supposed to know how to do that around ages like… 11 or 12 lol (at least for the multiplications). Maybe like 13 on the percentage one. 14 I’m pretty sure we’ve already moved on to equations with 2 unknowns and functions lol…

  22. And this is why we have the problems we do in the U.S., American kids just want to make posts on social media and not take their life seriously.

  23. He is not just a super good athlete he is also intelligent. And that matters. Matters a lot!

  24. Absolutely keep a stipulation on games played
Stop letting superstars sit out whenever they want then reward them with Awards at the end of a season. Make them actually earn it
If I’m working a job and only come in 1-2 a week there’s no way I’m getting a max raise. These dudes are soft nowadays. They don’t get touched and can’t even play 80 games.
