That was Joe's Coach of the year game
Thank you guys for another great season! Best fans in the world! Stay locked in with us for this playoff run!
Man, people keep saying the Celtics can win it all this year, but I don’t buy it. They don’t have that veteran presence who can actually take over in the playoffs. Both Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum have shown mental collapses when the pressure is on, and other teams have built rosters specifically to beat them with wings and bigs. Honestly, the Celtics would be lucky to even reach a Conference Final. Everyone criticizes the Pistons for not having outside shooting, but Boston isn’t exactly lights out from deep either. Brown is solid from midrange, but Tatum’s shooting percentages in the playoffs are nothing special, and Derrick White has been flat-out disappointing. This team has feasted on tanking squads, but they’ve got a losing record against the top teams in the East. I don’t see them making it past the second round. The real problem with the Celtics is they don’t have a killer. JT isn’t a killer, JB isn’t a killer. Other teams like the Knicks are built to beat them, and I don’t see Boston winning a series against New York. Mentally, they collapse.
all mvp awards would be long gone except that they generate conversations like this. Awards engage too many fans and commentators to be done away with. I wouldn't miss any of them for one second.
This Garden Report was full of legendaries.
Legendary Podcast
calling them legendaries like they're pokemon!
What a game.Backed the boys made bank.Just shows how deep our team is.Proud of them all.
At some point I think the Celtics will lose guys like Pritchard and Hauser that have been incredible. It feels so good to see guys like Walsh, Scheierman, and Harper developing where they might play those minutes one day. They’re not Pritchard but I remember a time when Pritchard wasn’t Pritchard.
hey guys, great show. please don't talk over the live press conference.
Baylor genuinely is looking like warriors klay thompson out there when he gets usage.
Kinda wish you guys would allow
NOA to talk without interrupting her.
Here we go what? You guys were basically talking about how weak the Celtics were, especially against the Knicks…Knicks will win a 7 game series…you alluded. Now, it’s Yay, look how good they look!
Jack ( reporter) really needs to lose the Kardashian vocal-fry. Cringe af
you dudes talking over each other when there’s like all of you – chaos – love it
Garza should be in the line up rotation! Much better then vuc
Ty ❤🎉
I was impressed with Dalano Banton’s defense. His size and reach will make him a menace. If he combined that with his offensive game, he could be serious.
John tries to be a wet blanket so hard.
Do not disrespect the Magic the way you all disrespected the Knicks last year because it could come back to haunt you if you have to play the Magic in the first round. History has a way of repeating itself if you don't learn from it (i.e. the second round series against the Knicks last year).
It will be nothing short of theft if Joe doesn't win coach of the year. Given the circumstances, you can't compare OKC's quest of a back-to-back championship with what the Celtics have accomplished this year. If Joe doesn't win coach of the year, every voting member should lose their vote next year.
What I said about not disrespecting the Magic, ditto for the 76ers.
Bobby, your remarks about tanking and the Pelicans not fielding a better team in their loss to the Celtics is noted, but would you have preferred that the Pelicans beat the Celtics and the Celtics losing the second seed? What say you?
I understand that Bobby is trying to temper his enthusiasm for the Celtics by injecting a healthy dose of negativity, but enough already!
Erik Spoelstra has never won coach of the year for example. There are no metrics more than win-loss for coach. An MVP players has measurable that you can replicate.
Pistons are +500 to win east. Insane. Their only real competition is BOS CLE NYK who are ahead of them to win EC–also insane. A wager whose payoff percentage exceeds its probability of success is the very definition of a good bet. The Pistons +500 are a great bet.
For the benefit of the uninitiated, +500 is based on a $100 bet, so the payout is 5 dollars for every dollar you wagered. If you bet $100 and won you would get $600 back–the 100 you bet and the 500 you won.
If you think the these 4 teams have an equal chance to win [and I don't] then it should only be +300. If the outcomes are equiprobable, it's a 25pc chance to win, but +500 is a 16-17pc probability. That may not sound like much of a difference, but in handicapping it sure is. Like Mazzullaball, you don't succeed by prognostication–unless you have a crystal ball–but by winning in the margins. This is a huge margin.
Usually, the conf favs run +120 to +200. IMHO, the Detroit Rodney Dangerfields are the clear cut favs in the east this year. Does that mean they are guaranteed to win? FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF no! But I have no doubt that they are the best team, and don't have an equal chance with the other three, but the best chance. The odds on DET should be +200 at most. The payout on this bet is 2-3 times higher than the likelihood of winning the bet.
They await their opponent from the play-in. It doesn't matter, nobody there can beat them. They progress to the second round and CLE. The Cavs might be the most talent-laden team in league, but they haven't put that together effectively yet, and if they do there's no guarantee they will beat DET. In any event, this is the big test, the big risk, but the odds here are 5 to 1, greatly exceeding the risk.
If DET wins, they progress to conf finals against BOS or NYK and [here we go] I don't think either of those teams can beat the Ps. Ps record against these two this season is 6-1, with the 1 loss coming on a missed free throw in last seconds of game. However, if you were concerned, you could hedge. If you bet $100, at that stage you are holding a ticket worth $500 so you could bet $200-$300 on the other team and you are guaranteed to win no matter who wins the series.
Essentially, you are taking 5 to 1 odds that the Ps can beat the Cavs. This is the first time ever remember a team that I made the fav paid 5 to 1. I can't even remember a team that finished first in conference being 5-1. I don't know why the Ps are so underestimated, but I am grateful. They are the best team in the conference. 5-1 on Ps, I'm in.
