What Happened to Every Doc Rivers NBA Team? #nba
Doc Rivers Stepped down as the Bucks Coach, so what happened to every Doc Rivers NBA Team?
First, the Orlando Magic.
Doc won Coach of the Year in his first season after dragging a projected lottery roster to the playoffs, but after four years and no true breakthrough, he was fired in 2003. Orlando then tore it all down, traded Tracy McGrady, and drafted Dwight Howard to begin a new era.
2nd is the Boston Celtics.
Doc built his legacy here, coaching the Big Three of Pierce, Garnett, and Allen to the 2008 championship and another Finals run in 2010. But after he left in 2013, Boston blew it up—and the rebuild eventually turned into the Tatum and Brown era.
3rd is the Clippers.
Doc coached the Lob City era and helped turn the Clippers from a joke into a perennial playoff team, Doc was fired after blowing a 3–1 lead in the 2020 Bubble… and in the very next season, LA made their first Conference Finals in franchise history without him.
4th is the 76ers.
Doc posted strong regular-season records in Philly and coached Joel Embiid’s MVP season, but never got past the 2nd Round. After yet another collapse in 2023, the Sixers fired him and pivoted to a new era under Nick Nurse.
And now the Bucks.
Milwaukee hired Doc midseason hoping his experience would maximize Giannis and Dame, but instead they went 97–103 under him with multiple disappointing playoff exits. Now the Bucks are moving on amid major uncertainty.
So the pattern is kinda wild:
Doc Rivers builds winning teams… but almost every franchise reaches a major crossroads the moment his tenure ends. He is the Only coach to blow a 3-1 series lead three times in his career.

Doc is an overrated coach who just landed on strong teams. With the teams he had he should have a bunch more championships but he's a mid coach at best.
Isn’t he officially done with coaching?
Why is this channel obsessed with Embiid scratching his ass
He didn't step down, he gor fired
I wonder which next franchise victim is on Doc next journey
Doc will be a Hall of Fame coach when its all said and done but that Celtics ring is 90% as to why he gets in
As soon as he entered bucks front office, i knew he would end up coach, and i knew giannis would want to leave. Horrible move.
Remember Orlando would of had TIM DUNCAN with a prime T-Mac if Doc would have allowed Tim's family to fly on the team plane to away games. That was the 1 thing that stopped Duncan from leaving the Spurs.
😭 why did I thought he was LeBrons coach for a season
Doc Rivers fumbled getting Tim Duncan in Orlando
Bucks wasn’t really his fault z
No other coach has blown a 3-1 lead twice
So no, he didn't win coach of the year for dragging a projected lottery team to the playoffs. He did win coach of the year, but they missed the playoffs.
They didn't make the playoffs until his second season after acquiring prime Tracy McGrady.
Hall of Fame by the way
If the Clippers had any actual decent coach they would have probably won a championship with CP3 and Blake Griffin
Doc is such a bad coach, he was terrible in Philly
That Embied clip just ruined my appetite
That embiid clip will never not be funny 😂
He is a terrible coach, I don't know how he's had a job this long.
As a Clipper fan, I always thought he was the reason we never won anything with LOB City.
Did knows how to get hired. And out-coached. .
No wonder why he got fired. They googled his coaching history
Embiid still had his African on his African and American citizenship….
Doc got sooo much mileage from that Celtics championship, but any coach should’ve won with that roster, the fact he couldn’t coach them to at least a 2nd one is shameful
Lol didn't mention him being the reason Orlando wasn't able to sign Tim Duncan
Trash he’s Midas touch but ruins everything he touches
Embiid should know whenever he is on the court someone is watching or filming. That's 100% on his nasty stankin ass
Someone put it perfectly (I forgot who it was but) doc is a floor raiser he's the guy you get for a team with no identity or direction the moment the team gets momentum you get the coach who's a ceiling raiser.
Doc’s a great motivator, he gets players to buy in and often overachieve when it’s not a stacked roster. But in the playoffs when games turn into chess matches and talent isn’t enough, his adjustments and X&O’s are his biggest weakness.
As much as I HATE HATE HATE the Celtics they’re scouting department needs studied on the amount of hits they get, it’s honestly amazing as an NBA fan to see a team so consistently correct
