  1. GM candidates should definitely come from outside the building. I don't believe in this we all friends' vision. Everybody is under the microscope

  2. Imo a perfect offseason looks something like this:

Select Wagler in the draft (if we don't move up), even if that means trading some future assets like the Lakers/Warriors picks. With the OKC pick I'd love Morez Johnson Jr, Anderson, Evans, Tanner, Okorie, Veesaar or Meleek Thomas. All of these are either high upside players, who can easily outperform their draft position in a few years, or safe rotation players on day 1.

As far as our expiring contracts, I'd look to bring back Marvin Bagley III. His upside as a stretch big, as well as his play with Coop so far make me think he'd be a nice signing. I think the bi-annual exception (roughly 5M) should be enough to secure him, and he'd make a nice backup/occasional starter. I'd also pick up the option on Nembhard, who has done well organizing the team whenever he's played, which is very impressive for a rookie. I'd also sign Cissé as the 3rd center, as his defensive presence, athleticism and rebounding has been extremely impressive and better than Gafford during stretches of the season.
I'd look to trade Middleton in a s&t, for either a trade exception or some minor draft capital. While he hasn't been bad here obviously, I think he'd want to be on a real contender and he wouldn't play much here considering our wing depth. I'd let our GOAT Powell walk, as I don't think we have the roster spots to resign him, but I'd definitely want him back if we make a bigger consolidation trade. Brandon Williams I would also let walk away, as he wouldn't play much with the pick coming in and Kyrie's return. His lack of shooting has also been glaring issue with his game this season, and the money he'd likely ask for wouldn't be worth it imo.

As for free agents, I'd want to mainly focus on shooters and POA defenders. As much as I hate to say it, targeting someone like Lu Dort makes a lot of sense on the MLE (if OKC declines his option). I'd also look at Keon Ellis, Ayo Dosunmu, Q Grimes and Tari Eason as targets. Another scoring guard, like Coby White or Collin Sexton could also be an option. A sneaky option would be Isaiah Hartenstein, who we could potentially get in a sign and trade with the Thunder using part of the MLE and Gafford's contract. With them getting expensive next season, I could see them wanting to shave about ~10M by downgrading their center rotation somewhat.

I'd also look to re-sign both Max and Naji this offseason, both for around 15-20M a year. I doubt they'd make much more than that considering both have pretty glaring weaknesses in their games, while being great at other things. Both contracts would be very tradable as well if it ever came to that
