I think the Spurs understand that if they win the championship without facing Jokic, some people will question their path to the West Finals.
The fact that they didn’t try to win the last game against Denver by playing Wemby suggests to me that they remain confident against any matchup.
Ultimately, the idea is that to be the best, you have to beat the best, which aligns to Wemby’s goal of proving himself as the #1 in NBA
