Rachel Nichols could not be more wrong about tanking/new CBA. New CBA more equitably spreads talent out across the league, and in theory creates space to bring free agency back, versus everyone GM is entitled to a second round pick for everyone player. The Herd, and either Rachel or whoever is intentionally mis-informing her is telling her this because markets like LA, Silcon Valley, and Boston, prefer a league where certain owners can just outspend the competition and be a contender. This also benefits this kind of media who just wants to talk to LA and NY all day. It's a different goal, than creating a good pro sports league. I would argue that's what college sports are four, you can talk about like 16 teams every week.
