Caleb Wilson is literally KG 2.0.
I like Wilson but how is he not Ty Thomas or Bagley 2.0?
Wilson really doesn't fit beside Coop at all, if not one of them develops a above average 3. And still then, if coop drives (what our gameplan will be 90% of the time) Wilson has to be at the dunker to be a vertical spacing target (where we still have Lively and Gaff at the moment). That's just not a good fit for his absolute incredible talents, don't get me wrong he will be a star but not in our system.
If he falls to 5 or 6 you don't overthink that raw talent but not at 2 when petersen or boozer are probably both available and a way better fit with the same or above talent levl.
Does Dallas have the ability to trade up in this draft? Are there teams that want to trade down?
I completely agree with Issac. He fits the team well and I think hus upside is huge
If Caleb Wilson is our guy at 2 then we should try and trade back to 3 or 4

If you get one of the top 2 picks then it’s gotta be either AJ or DP.
I love Wilson. I worry about his fit w Cooper but I love him. Still, he's the third best fit for DAL behind Dybantsa and Peterson. Boozer is a no go, for me. If you take Wilson, it needs to be because you traded back and picked up an asset for your trouble
If you can’t shoot (and currently he can’t)
It’s hard to envision what players you’d put around He and Flagg.
A lack of shooting is death in the nba,
Especially in the playoffs.
Trade with Memphis for the 4th and 16th picks and maybe even a 1rp next year, THEN pick Wilson. Altho I'd prefer wagler. We desperately need shooting. But with wilson, you can get shooters with 16th and 30th picks
Step 1: I trade #2 to Memphis for #4, #16 and at least a future swap, and take Wilson.
Step 2: I respectfully trade Kyrie to the Heat for #13 and a couple of young players like Jakucionis and Davion Mitchell.
Step 3: I then see if any of the teams between #5 and #7 would bite on their pick for #13 and #16. If so, I take Acuff. Acuff and Wilson are a perfect pairing in that they compliment each other's strengths and weaknesses.
Step 4: I trade Klay, PJ, Gafford for pieces that fit better and are closer to this timeline.
Step 5: PROFIT! Then I go to war with:
Acuff
Christie
Flagg
Wilson
Lively
Peterson is the best prospect in the whole draft. If he’s available at 2 you pounce on that and thank the basketball gods. I’m not gonna hold it against him that because of a stupid arbitrary rule he was forced to play a year of college ball and decided to protect his draft interests.
I love Wilson and would be happy with him but in this scenario, I would trade back a couple spots to nab an additional 1st rnd pick and take Peterson, Acuff, or Wagler
