The Los Angeles Lakers have a 3-1 series lead on the Houston Rockets, and are looking to advance to the 2nd round. Nick Wright, Chris Broussard, and Kevin Wildes discuss the biggest takeaways from Games 3 and 4, and ask if the Lakers can close out the Rockets in Game 5. Plus, they discuss Nikola Jokic’s disappointing playoffs so far, and ask whether or not the Kansas City Chiefs are asking too much of Patrick Mahomes following a defense-heavy Draft. They also discuss the Pittsburgh Steelers drafting Penn State QB Drew Allar in the 3rd Round.

  1. Barely mentioning Marcus Smart is a crime fellas. He was the one who kept playing when everyone else on the team had called it in after the LeBron turnovers. Shame on you

  2. ESPN wrote the check to the refs for game 3&4! Houston messed up game 3 and the refs weren't going to let it happen game 4. Game 5 is the first game aired on ESPN. Coincidence? I think not! It was always going back to LA.

  3. I agree with Brou that people do that, and I think they need to learn to not. The teammates are not equal. The opponents are not equal. The coaches are not equal.
Magic never won a championship without Kareem. He wasn't even the best player on his team any time he won a title. He got Finals MVP once only because Kareem got injured. He's an all-time great. He shouldn't be on the top 10 list.
The Celtics, from the start, have always put together great teams. Great supporting casts. They may not have always have a lot of big names, but they have talent and depth. Wilt scored 100 points in a game. FIVE of the top ten scoring performances in history were Wilt…to this day. Wilt averaged 50.4 points for a season. We wave off those numbers because the competition wasn't the same, but we give Bill Russell credit as an all-time great. Bill Russell's highest scoring performances were two times when he had 37 points in a game. Wilt AVERGAED 50.4 for a season. Yes, yes Bill Russell is a great defender…Wilt had more blocks. Wilt is a great defender too.
Wilt is probably the best basketball player in history. If the competition was so easy, then Bill Russell would have dominated offensively too. He averaged half as many points per game as Wilt. Wilt's also the best athlete in NBA history. 7'2" with a 7'8" wingspan, stronger than Shaq–benched over 600 lbs to Shaq's 475–48+ inch vertical…he was a high jumper in school. His skill would translate. He would have outclassed Shaq at his own game. We don't give Wilt credit because he didn't win enough, but his team simply wasn't as well constructed as the Celtics.
Speaking of the Celtics and Lakers, Bird also had a very well constructed roster. He was the best on his team, unlike Magic, but compare his supporting cast to say Giannis over the last say three years and tell me you're completely sure Bird is the better player. Cuz I'm not.
I think we should value individual performance more and winning somewhat less where player rankings are concerned. Winning is a team stat. Player rankings are not team rankings.

  4. 13:57. Zero chance at this stage Joker can be the sixth best center. Russell, Wilt, Hakeem, Kareem, Malone, Mikan, Shaq, Robinson, Ewing, McAdoo, Reed. Heck I might throw Mourning out above him in Terms of 2 way players.

  5. Jokic just stating the obvious: Minnesota fouls every single time down the court. If the officials were to call all those fouls the game would take six hours.

  6. Wait a minute Brou…Michael Jordan hits "The Shot" against a sorry Cleveland Cavaliers team in the 1st round if the playoffs and they barely win and that highlight is played all the time as if it were the Finals?

  7. I don’t have a dog in the fight but I’m not mad that Joker was mad at the cheap basket at the end of the game. I’m not mad that he’s a sore loser as long as there’s no dirty play involved. I’m ok with the fines but I’m glad no 1 was suspended.

  8. We have to give it to Nick. He called the Rockets-Lakers perfect. He was 100% correct even before they series started. They laughed him off the set when he said the Lakers could win.

  9. Biggest upset? Yeah Nick is definitely delusional. I think it would've meant more if Bronny had made it to the NBA on his own merit instead of his Dad forcing the team to Draft him. A bunch of players with NBA dad's are in the league and they all had to EARN it

  10. Every great player has had a poor series nick except michael Jordan you need to put that in there because Jordan bad series is 27 points and 41 percent shooting but nick that was in the finals and we know that LeBron James has had several series shooting below40 percent from the field and averaging less than 20 points michael Jordan lowest average in any series was 26 points man in 35 playoff series that is close to LeBron James career average of 28 per game

  11. Nick is absolutely correct on this, the way people were talking about the Lakers going into this series was that they had no chance to win, the amount of people on tv who said they would get swept or lose in 5 was shocking, now the Lakers are up 3-1, and right on cue, the narrative changes, “oh KD was hurt”. “The rockets are the worst team ever”. “Lebron has more help than KD”. WHAT?!?! Nah nah nah nah nah, you don’t get to do that, get that weak stuff out of here! That isn’t what you were saying before the series started, now they want to discredit how good the Lakers have played against the Rockets
