Ira Winderman on Miami Heat’s Giannis Pursuit

Miami Heat writer Ira Winderman joins the show to break down Miami’s biggest offseason questions, including whether Jimmy Butler was ultimately a “diva” despite his star-level impact during his Heat tenure. He dives into the team’s pursuit of another superstar, explaining why Miami could realistically assemble the strongest trade package for Giannis Antetokounmpo and what it would likely cost, including multiple prospects and the 13th overall pick. Winderman also discusses alternative star targets like Ja Morant and Kawhi Leonard if Giannis isn’t available, while evaluating Nikola Jovic’s development and Kel’el Ware’s high upside but inconsistent work habits. The conversation also touches on the strong Pat Riley–Erik Spoelstra relationship and Spoelstra’s job security, before wrapping with NBA Finals talk and whether the Knicks are truly prepared after an untested run through the Eastern Conference.

  1. See this is my problem. Instead of spending the time and energy into trying to trade your entire team every off season and use the offseason to build chemistry with the team. We should be having Bam and Ware in the gym right NOW working together. Working with Zo working, with haslem. Instead of chasing whales every year to fall flat.

If they had been doing that going into year 3 with Ware with this development team. We’d be talking about what missing pieces do we need AROUND Bam and Ware🤷🏽

  2. The Moby Dick story starting every Heat Media, and content creator chasing the Old Whale every season not the Organization, ..Pay Riley said it's 2027 off season And didn't resign y Butler it's Media that chasing Moby..every year and it not gonna end well
