Im glad Fox isn't one to pay attention to the noise! He's gonna make a difference for us next year!!
Here in San Antonio basketball is super serious 😂 especially after the city just committed half a billion dollars to the new 2 billion dollar stadium. I was one of the crazy Hispanic fans pulling vote no on project marvel signs off lawns all over my neighborhood 😂. But I rock with Fox! I believe he will win a championship with us and then he will be traded. Probably a rebuilding team looking for experience and is willing to take his last year or 2 for a low return on the spurs side.
I disagree that we needed Fox's "4th quarter heroics" to win game 3. It was a factor, but if he wasn't handling the ball I believe we had other guys who could have slotted in just as well. I'm cool if we keep Fox, but I think it should be swapping roles with Harper. We know Fox has only 1-2 more years with the Spurs at the most, and we also know that we'd love to build up Harper as our long-term franchise starter, so it makes sense for there to be a transitionary period. Choosing to start Harper while Fox is still on the team could also be a good relationship building move to show him how much the organization and coaching staff believe in him. That vote of confidence could make a psychological difference for Harper as he continues to grow with the team
Luxury? There's no trophy for a good regular season game performance. His ankle injury can heal, but his basketball IQ seems stagnant as I see from his days in Sacramento. There's literally Knicks Fox Jerseys being made.
Trade his butt
If Fox gets traded this offseason or during the regular season, who will make the bench have an impact on the game the way that Harper did?
Having a solid bench is key to performing well in the regular season.
The Spurs could maybe start D'Aaron Fox in some games, start Dylan Harper in others.
Old news brah
Spurs have a great team. Make a great draft pick to add to that. The rebuild is over and championship contenders for years to come. Spurs organization know what they are doing, GSG!
Why not start both???
If Fox goes, who is going to handle the ball? Harper? Great. And when he gets hurt either seriously and takes 10 games off, or just needs fewer minutes per game for an extended stretch, who is going to handle the ball? And I mean in the next playoffs. What I saw this past playoffs concerned me. When Fox and Harper were either out or playing injured, it was a disaster. What I'm basically saying is the Knicks stuck it to us good during the regular season. And that was when we only had Fox playing and Harper played very little. The Knicks force Wemby to play at max output on both sides of the floor, and that pressures the hell out of our ball handler as they try and compensate. And if it's only Fox, or only Harper, we're going to see more teams learn some of the things the Knicks did and that will be a serious problem with only a single elite ball handler. We need TWO amazing ball handlers to keep Wemby from having to play max output 2-ways. Nobody's explaining who we're going to replace Fox with. All I hear is "a big" and I'm thinking, great, another person who can't run the offense. People think our shooting is the problem. It's not. Our team shoots horribly when their morale is down. And they shoot lights out when they feel on top of the world. Pretty much the entire team. When does morale break down? When Wemby is getting maxed out 2-ways, and he still tries to do his point guard routine, doing his 6 foot dribbles for anyone to steal the ball. And then he gets understandably tired and frustrated and he looks mortal again in the 4th quarter. The only way to keep our offense aligned and running like a swiss watch is to have two amazing ball handlers. Harper looks great. So who is the other amazing ball handler we're going to pull in and are they better than Fox, and can we get them? Fox did a great job, and if you watch the games again, his feet and movement was quick and sharp. It wasn't till the last series where we could see that he simply wasn't the same human. Even when you play through the pain with shear will power, your body will betray you. Even subconsciously. If Fox had been hurt from the very first playoff game, Harper or no Harper, we wouldn't have made it to the finals. It's basically like saying "The Spurs can win the championship without Tony Parker cause we have Manu." I don't believe it.
Subbed. Good stuff man
Fox is a cash cow that is not needed. He choked hard in the finals when his team needed him. Yeah, he did good in the game 2 and 4 with FG percentage 8-12 and 6-16. Poor shooting when he is the point guard…he as ton of open looks in that position. Lacked leadership was quite when choking and lacked playmaking. In the big leagues, either you show up or PACK up.
Backing Fox is the right move. The Spurs' future depends on everyone pulling in the same direction for the family.
