Rip Hamilton on Pistons ’04 Championship Hangover
November 10, 2005 – Early into the 2005-06 season, Detroit Pistons shooting guard Richard Hamilton sat down with Cheryl Miller to discuss his team’s slow start the previous season, which culminated in a seven-game NBA Finals loss the San Antonio Spurs.
After an NBA championship in 2004 and a runner-up finish in 2005, the 2006 Pistons sent four players to the All-Star Game and won a franchise record 64 games before bowing out in the Eastern Conference Finals to the eventual champion Miami Heat.
The interview above comes from the broadcast of a 111-104 Pistons win over the Phoenix Suns. Hamilton’s highlights from that game can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1UHx70l08s
