  1. I think Bill is either still bitter Kyrie left Boston for Brooklyn or that we mopped them in 5 games in 2021. Regardless, he proved he doesn’t watch the Nets one bit. Just looks at box scores and per game averages.

  2. Bill Simmons is now just a shill for gambling companies. Yes, the Nets made bad decisions and had horrible lotto luck but which team, aside from the Spurs and Thunder, has not made a mistake or had a franchise altering injury this past decade. The hate, which has gone on for years, is bordering on offensive. I think it is personal between him and Marks.

For players to target, I think Trey Murphy and Franz Wagner/Paolo Banchero could be possible if their teams decide to go on a full rebuild. Then try the lotto again in '28 for Boumtje x2.

  3. This is on some wwe level stuff. At this point, one of the nets players will call simmons out in a post game show or in the court and invite him to a nets game to see if he keeps running his mouth in person

  4. Mind you this is coming from the same person who said the MPJ trade was the worse trade ever. Why does Bill Simmons talk like he has any credentials to run anything in sports? All this dude does is run his mouth. Straight up clown hour him and Zach Lowe.

  5. The nets are very very very well run especially in recent years. There’s a reason why stars come here and we have so many. Every team has bad luck but we still make the most of it & you can see how well we run things by out tree the hornets are coming into form. Crazy take by Simmons but we’ll keep working regardless

  6. Sean marks should've been fired in 2023 imo after the kd and kyrie thing ended. That being said since then he's done nothing to strong enough to warrant losing his job. I dont agree with backend of 2025 draft but that's not a fireable offense. Awful take by simmons

  7. We are so well run:

We win 50 games once in 50 years and pretend that is normal

We’ve never won a NBA title and are proud of it

We’ve never developed a top 5 MVP caliber player

We think bigs like Mo Wagner, Dayton Sharpe’s, Nic Claxton, Jarrett Allen’s of the world actually provide any semblance of resistance to force bad shot on Giannis when Giannis goes through them like tissue paper as they don’t have enough weight on them. But yeah let’s pretend it’s all Giannis being unstoppable when no hard shots are forced by Nets bigs on him.

Yeah we’re really well run. 😂😂😂😂😂

Such gaslighting from fellow Nets fans.

  8. WOW. This is the type of content I want to see. Fuck Bill Simmons and fuck the haters.

First of all, I appreciate the energy you are bringing when dispelling some of the absolute nonsense that nets fans have to hear whenever the nets get brought up. Especially people that say we should move back to New Jersey. This is absolutely the stupidest most brain-dead idea that has possibly ever been developed. People genuinely say this as if that would actually do anything positive whatsoever. As if the days in Jersey were the times that the franchise prospered and the arena was packed every night with nets fans. Brooklyn is as great a home for this team as any for all the reasons you brought up, but at the end of the day idc if they play in Brooklyn, Newark, or Alaska, I still will be watching and I will still want them to win the finals and i still wont care if we have a more valuable franchise than the knicks.

Also the absolute morons that want to pretend like being a knicks fan has been some blessed lifestyle that I have been missing out on my entire life. I wish i could say its just Knick fans being delusional, but I got asked by fans of a few other fanbases who were shocked that I chose the Nets as if I had missed a lifetime of success by not being a Knicks fan. It is amazing how quickly people forget what happens in the NBA in general. Until Juilius Randle got to the Knicks, being a Knicks fan was just plain embarrassing. They got their shit figured out and thats great for them, but its not like its been generations of dominance over the Nets on the court. In terms of actual basketball its been very even. And thats even that, which you mentioned, the knicks literally shot us in the knee caps when we first entered the league by forcing the league to tax us to the point we had to sell our best player and the leagues best player.

This also is, like you mentioned, not the worst rebuild of all time. Not even the worst rebuild currently active. Does that mean we are in a good spot? Absolutely not. When you have Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, James Harden on your roster at the same time, but then 3 years from that point you are losing games on purpose, than you definitely fumbled somehow. And thats the low-hanging fruit that Bill and all the other casual observers will always be able to point to until we are able to formulate high-level success as an organization.

What you need to realize, Erik, is that you are not helping either. Saying things like Egor probably wont be better than VJ Edgecombe or Kon Kneuppel. Why? I dont see how you could possibly believe that those guys are so much better than Egor after one NBA season. All those guys have so much growing to do in this league. If we actually grow and develop our players and put them in the right situation to shine then there is no reason we should be feeling victims to the draft order. There are so many examples in NBA history of the best players in the draft not being the #1, #2, #3, #4, #5 guys in exactly that order. Too many examples to even count of top 5 picks that end up being extremely average or not even playable and guys within the 7-15 range being hall of fame caliber. Imagine the Jazz not believing Donovan Mitchell could be better than Josh Jackson because of draft stock. Or Lonzo. But once hes on the Jazz then its on the Jazz to grow and develop Donovan Mitchell, not worry about Lonzo or Josh Jackson. We cant be worried about VJ or Kon, we have Egor. We need him to be his best every day and we hope that by the end of his Nets tenure we can say we git the absolute most out of him.

All this to say the final piece of nonsense I hear comes from you, Erik. This nonsense about how losing on pupose more we would be in a more favorable spot right now. The main reason I hate this argument is because losing on purpose does not guarantee you anything (as we saw in real time) let alone guaranteeing you a star player that you can build your franchise entirely around. Those players are truly once in a generation that can take a team with a completely tanking roster, an organization with no championship wins ever, and turn them around just with their presence alone. And if you think that is what the good teams in the nba do, then that shows that you are doing the same low-hanging fruit takes that Bill Simmons does to us, just you are doing it for the winning teams. They see us with KD, Kyrie, Harden and then see us losing and they just come up with an easy to digest take. You see teams with bottom 3 records that find their way to the playoffs and you coke up with a take thats easy to digest. There is so much more going on under the hood of all these teams. When Bill Simmons says we are the worst rebuild of all time, you know that isnt true; but what you need to realize is that a lot of the teams that are currently having worse rebuilds are ones that think the way you do and think they can just sit at the bottom of the lottery and fish for a LeBron. It doesnt work like that. It fails more teams than it succeeds for. And the teams it does work for arent just simply gutting their own roster and paving the way for high draft picks and other young prospects to just sink or swim on their own. There is more purpose and intention to each move then just doing things FOR THE SAKE of losing.

We want to be winners. One thing Jordi said just recently that will stick with me for my entire life about this last preseason game is "These games dont count, but they matter". Thats real. Thats the NBA. Thats summer league, working out in the offseason, training camp, back to backs, 82 game schedule. Everything matters, even if it doesnt count. And then when it really does count, you look back on the days that things didnt feel like they counted and you realize all that work really did matter. Its true for life and its true for basketball.

  9. Bill Simmons: What the hell are the Nets doing??? What a GIANT overpay for Cam Johnson!!! What a ridiculous move, could be one of the worst signings I've ever seen
(a little bit later when they trade Cam for MPJ)
BS: How could the Nets trade away their only good player for MPJ who is objectively worse and ONLY an unprotected first along with him???
(then Cam has an objectively terrible season and MPJ has a near All Star one)
BS: I don't care what you say about MPJ, I'll stand by what I said, MPJ was still a terrible player to trade for

He's a complete clown and he constantly throws darts randomly on a dart board and only counts the hits and ignores the darts that fly into the crowd at the bar.
Egor will prove him wrong as well…. AGAIN hahahahaha

  10. 4:25 I really do not think the number of the pick matters. Especially since these guys come into the league so young now.

It's how the team develops the player.

Even if you look at a recent draft class like 2022 or 2023, it's amazing how many of these guys have been traded already.

Even Wemby's draft class, outside of Brandon Miller & The Thompson Twins, most of these guys don't even start.

So it's not like The Nets have missed out on these can't-miss prospects.

Flatbush Five was a great haul for last year's class.

  11. Until Marks builds a respectable playoff team hopefully after 2028 this is what is going to be. There are valid criticisms regarding the rebuild because the uncertainties still outweigh the certainties. Lowe is right, it's time to use those assets use to bring in talent and it needs to begin this trade deadline because 2028 the goal has to be the play-in. Marks has kicked a can down the road enough times to still be the GM.

  12. Its obviously personal he just loves ragging on the nets and he doesn't even watch their games. I used to listen to his stuff but when I hear his nets takes it discredits the rest of his opinions

  13. I just got done listening to tht episode. I listen to a lot of BS podcasts, and hes pretty consistent in his hate for the Nets. He should be way more thankful, we're the reason his team won a championship. He says we're incompetent and we do dumb ish. In the very next sentence, he claims the Suns owner "threw us a lifeline with all those picks" lol. They then talk about the trade with the Knicks. Im sorry Bill, where's the incompetence? None of that sounds like incompetence, in fact, it sounds quite competent to me! He doesnt explain anything except that he doesnt like our players. And that we should move back to Jersey. This all stems from his team getting the 8th pick in the draft instead of the top pick in 2018 where he wanted to draft Luka on the Cs. And of course the following year when we signed KD and a certain point guard from the Cs who, despite whatever he says, he wanted to resign there. F Bill Simmons, he is a hater, bottom line.
