Marc Spears: “Poole didn’t think it was necessary that Draymond get a suspension. It was put in front of the players. I was told players weren’t comfortable levying that onto one of their teammates, so they wanted management to make that decision. Ownership & FO decided Green would not be suspended”

W Poole, W management and FO
I apologize for all my Poole slander
can’t blame the players one bit on this; yes it’s right thing to bring them into the discussion but asking them to render final judgement?
Isn’t that what execs get paid to do. A sure fire way to permanently poison a locker room is to give your fellow players power over your paycheck (i.e. suspension, removal from the team, etc)
🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿 Pool has moved on. Now let’s ALL move on
prob under the condition dray is gone next season
Poole showing more maturity than Draymond
Moral of the story is that EVERYONE in the organization is afraid of Draymond.
Could you imagine if Draymond knocked out Steph instead of Poole? Forget being suspended from the team, he would be banned from playing another nba game.
But because it was just the 3rd year player, then it gets chalked up to being, Draymond being Draymond.
Weak decision from the team. Poole being the young gun likely felt pressure not to say or do anything that could affect the team for the season. But again, if he knocked Steph or even Klay, this would have played out very differently.
Crazy most of Reddit’s take was to cut him or trade him asap.
While Poole, however he really feels, publicly was fine rolling with draymond with no suspension.
It always matter more to the people in the locker room vs the fans. The video gave fans fuel for their emotions.
Of course…
…Poole not only agreed to no suspension but probably volunteered that himself. If Poole wanted Draymond suspended for some garish period of time I could see the org (and the players) pressing Poole but the org is not going to decide on no suspension at all if Poole had publicly said he wanted a reasonable or modest suspension.
…the players didn’t want to be the ones who determined Draymond’s punishment or lack thereof. Of course they wanted that to be something they could absolve themselves of and pin on management instead. In all ways conceivable. I.e. if someone thinks the punishment is too light, then blame it on management. If someone had though it was too light, then blame it on management. Player empowerment sometimes results in players using that power to gain the privilege of being passive and avoiding assuming more management responsibility.
Now the whole org is under fire publicly but I don’t see players breaking ranks and saying that they wanted a suspension but management was too lenient. They’re all in the same boat now and maybe this makes them closer. They’re at least all complicit. Maybe this was exactly what management was counting on.
I hope Poole really felt like a suspension wouldn’t do good in working out whatever he needs Draymond to work out with him, if he actually does. I don’t want him resenting this later on down the road. I hope a lot of effort was made to assure Poole that management would levy a suspension and stand behind it as management’s decision but that Poole proactively pushed back on that plan and told them he did not want Draymond suspended.
the issue with this is of course he’s not gonna say hell yeah suspend my teammate
It’s all kumbaya until Poole gets his extension.
Adults handling this like adults. Proud of my team!!
Good on Poole, but I feel like the FO should be the ones to put their foot down and suspend Draymond. Not that it would’ve changed his behavior, but at least as a symbol. But then again, it might seem spineless to suspend him after the video leaked.
