Losing a superstar to NBA free agency is the most devastating hit to teambuilding a team can take. The Cavs averaged just 24 wins per season for 4 years after LeBron left them in 2010. The Thunder went from most exciting young team of the decade to 1st round playoff exit mediocrity after Kevin Durant left them in 2016, and everything – good and bad – that has happened in OKC since can be traced back to Durant leaving them. After winning a title in 2019, the Raptors have been largely irrelevant in terms of contention since losing Kawhi Leonard in the following offseason, despite being arguably the best organization and front office in the sport for the past few years. No amount of smart drafting and trades can make up for an all-nba caliber player leaving for nothing – and that is a reality that the Bucks came INCREDIBLY close to living through themselves with Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Enjoy ur videos generally bro but I just wanted to put out there that u were horribly wrong on the other video about the top prospects of all time. It’s more likely that 1-2 years from now ur going to make a video about how victor may very well be one of the most overrated prospects ever… he’s averaging under 10 points and under 10 rebounds a game against amateur level comp… we already seen his player archetype in guys like kristaps.. literally same exact height n everyone loves to trash on him like he’s a bust of some sort despite making the most of his situations while not injured. Not trying to wish bad on victor because I believe there’s potential there but not near close to the hype you and other YouTubers have been putting on his shoulders for clicks.. if dude ends up a poor man’s kristaps that’d still be a good career. Stop trying to overhype players with visibly limited upside because it does nothing but put players in a box when they underperform..
The only point I’ll disagree on is that the players of this era are increasingly disloyal. I think this era can be traced back to when Jokic and Giannis came into the league and we can see with both of those guys that they rather compete than join up with other superstars, and the same can be said about guys like Luka, Ja, Fox, Tatum etc. We’re really seeing a reversal of how the previous era (ie. Harden, Lebron, Durant, Kyrie) did things.
"I got loyalty inside my DNA 🦌" – Giannis Antetokounmpo 7/7/17
You’re making it seem like he wanted to leave. He never did. And was mostly decided after that trade
I can't wait to see giannis going up against Victor winbanyama for the first time that will be epic like Iverson verse Jordan
LeGone
Giannis Antetokounmpo need stay he's whole career in Bucks 🔥🔥🔥
Jaylen Brown next video Sporting Logically 🙏🙏🙏
One and done
I don't know Giannis never said he wanted to leave so I think that's just another narrative that the media wants you to believe
Unrelated: Is it time for a Trae Young video since the issues with him and the Hawks have come to light, and as a result, it has come out, unsurprisingly, that Trae might request a trade?
(I knew the second the issues with Trae, the team, and Nate MacMillan came out something would come out of him wanting out of Atlanta)
I don’t think they were close to losing him lmao, all the rumors was just spread through YouTubers and the nba media, tryna make something about it, what else is new.
At least he didn't go to the Lakers like Kareem did nearly half a century ago.
Agree with everything on Dallas except Mark Cuban is DEFINITELY not an owner that’s willing to spend to win. Hate him 🤦🏾♂️
Jrue Holiday is one of those players who are absolutely underrated and makes a team much better without padding the stats
There’s no proof that Giannis wanted out or was pressuring the front office. How do you know they almost lost him? Are you just buying the narrative that people like Stephen A Smith were peddling? This is nonsense. I know you love player movement, but you constantly push these false narratives about it.
Bro he wasn’t going to leave for that resigning period, all the fan bases for the really popular teams just think they’re getting every all star out there
Giannis's loyalty sliders are set to 99.
I was just hoping Dame and Giannis could teamup. They have a similar mentality, and they'd fit well together
I’m glad he stayed but those Giannis to Miami rumors around the extension time will still keep me up at night thinking about what ifs every now and then
Bro remember when some hawks fans were saying the 6th pick (wasn’t a selection but was onyeka) and JC for Giannid
I think if he would have left he would have went to play for Masai
And most improved player of the year
Nah this channel weak omm
Giannis isn't a B I T C H like LeChina, Har_en, KD
Do you know Giannis he is humble dude. Giannis is a family guy he doesn't care about that stuff.
Giannis leaving Milwaukee was purely manufactured by the national media. No one remotely close to the team thought Giannis would do anything besides sign a max extension. It all comes down to hatred of small markets and international players.
Giannis is as family-centric as they come and Milwaukee helped him lift his entire family out of poverty and embraced them like family. He never said a word that hinted toward him leaving. There was so much chatter about his future from every party except for the 1 person who mattered: Giannis. The Bucks didn't almost lost Giannis, the media almost convinced themselves that he would leave Milwaukee.
I remember y’all talking shit when he signed with the bucks
Giannis and luka would be insane
Things happened for a reason. He wanted to stay in Milwaukee. Enjoy it
ESPN was LIVID that he signed the extension. Them calling Milwaukee a "terrible city" during the championship run was 100% out of anger at Giannis.
as a mavs fan, i was genuinely praying for giannis and luka every night
Beautiful video tuck
I truly think if giannis went to free agency toronto would've been up there as a top choice for him
How were we close to losing him? He’s never publicly stated he even thought about leaving. The only people who had him out were in the media.
Changing teams are not European superstars on their prime thing – look at dirk, tony, jokic, giannis, luka, gasol brothers.
It more of an US players thing as they have a hometown or really want to enjoy those big cities.
He told Lebron, “ I’m not Hollywood.”
Imagine luka and giannis together. Simply unstoppable
The bucks nevers almost left Giannis, he always confirmed his commitment to the bucks and signed an extension a year earlier than he needed too
So… the Bucks saw they had to improve to keep their MVP player. They followed through and improved the roster, and their loyal superstar resigned.
I think it’s unfair to compare Gianni’s decision to lebrons when he left Cleveland. Giannis had an all star, and help. Lebron had absolutely nothing on that first cavs team which is why he left. The cavs didn’t do anything, make any trades, or try to improve the team around him. The bucks were actively trying to keep their star, like the cavs should’ve done. So don’t make Lebron the villain when he just would have wasted his career away with no help.
Milwaukee never lost Giannis
