He is an underrated playmaker if he isn’t your top 2-3 offensive player.
Fred is really good at basketball. I think he can thrive as a secondary ball handler, but he doesn’t play that role often and it doesn’t seem like he is keen on doing that.

Fred is underrated by this sub period. People acting like nobody would ever want FVV lol. He’s inefficient af but he’s still averaging 19/6/4. Hes 11th in the league in assist/TO ratio. He’s 28 and probably not gonna get a massive bag coming off of a rough year so there’s a good chance of signing him long term. A lot of teams will want him.

i feel like the role adjusted assist points / 75 possessions is the most important factor here though, no? ya he’s good when compared to all players, but mediocre at his position (as a PG).

Offence isn’t really the biggest problem here though…he’s an efficient playmaker but it’s mostly on simple stuff…he struggles getting into the paint now and breaking down even semi athletic guys guarding him…however the main issue with him now is how bad his d is…especially no back line behind him

Our problem is the one thing he is a C at.
I would like to see what people shoot against him closing out to a corner shooter vs league pg average. I feel like he doesn’t disrupt corner shooters at all and one of the reasons we get killed in the corners. He is making the right rotation but being 6ft tall he might as well start boxing out someone near the net rather than get to the corner.

Some of y’all just need to admit you have a hate boner for VanVleet and get over it. Fred is absolutely underrated by this sub. Hell, whenever Fred does something good, half of y’all are like “that’s great but…”

I’d like to see the Raps either acquire a true PG for him to play with, or go to a team where he could play in a two PG lineup again. The magic acquiring FVV to play with Cole Anthony Markelle Fultz or Jalen Suggs makes some sense.
