I still stand by my opinion that the meltdowns, the lack of effort in general is more than just coaching which most fans blame. I think it’s close to 50/50 between the players and coach.

A coach can only do so much to inspire, to provide a game plan but the players still has the conscious decision if they want to give 100% effort or not.

aaron and his towel are not impressed

I feel like it’s the same story every time: We build a nice lead with ball movement and off-ball movement, then for whatever reason our ballhandlers decide to start playing a lot of iso ball and the whole offense grinds to a stop.

I’m optimistic that this is a solvable problem, and that Quin actually installing a legitimate offensive system in the offseason will be a big help. But oof, it’s been tough to watch in the meantime.

*EDIT: Of course, the actual reason is that the laws of the universe required that we had to maintain our .500 record, so we had to lose this one if we wanted to win the next one against Detroit

We hired a brand new coach with a completely different coaching style, philosophy, and schemes …

The team is still figuring it out how to close games with a drastically different coach. I don’t care how many assistants are held over during the last regime, it’s still Snyder that’s putting his imprint on this team and he’s hardly even been able to get his feet wet. We will inevitably fall back into old habits

Process on offense completely shit the bed in second half

This team has collapsed. The Trae trade failed, spurs just showed dropping dejounte was a big brain move, no coach can provide structure for these fools, and we’re doing just as well as the pre Joe Johnson and Mike Bibby days.

  8. EuronXena

Spurs traded Dejounte to us and stocked up on picks ahead of the most densely talented draft in decades and we think the Hawks will somehow someday not be a trash franchise lol

I was at the game and holey shit that lineup at the beginning of the 3rd killed us and got the SA crowd in to it. Whole team couldn’t buy a shot and everyone literally refuses to play defense. I know this will be unpopular, but I would bench Trae at this point. His positives on offense are not outweighing his shit defense and complete lack of leadership ability. Leave him on the bench for the next two, either light the fire or get rid of him. He’s to deep in his career to have developed so little in the defense and leadership departments.

Nate is the absolute worst. The guy sits there with his arms crossed and couldnt coach the 92 dream team. Fire him.

Still think this team needs direction and clarity. Players don’t knows what’s about to happen in offseason. That can be a major distraction for. Think about John Collins in trade rumors constantly.

I’m looking at this season as an extended offseason with the new coach and players “trying out”.

I think the team is uninspired right now because they’re fully aware that their absolute highest ceiling for the season is a 1st round exit. They also probably know that this roster won’t look the same next year so why bother giving 100% effort when they know the season is a wash and we won’t start pushing for contention until next year at the soonest?

I’ve stopped being hyper-invested in games this year. I just watch to see minor tweaks to gameplan under Quin that make me hopeful for the future.

Best half of the year immediately followed by the worst. It’s our season in a game.
