He’s being asked to do the most and still dominating across the traditional stats (Blocks, contested shots)
Mobley is switching onto guards and affecting shots at the 3pt line more than any other player in the league, he doesn’t just camp out in the lane (brook)
He has played 37% more minutes than JJJ this year
The best defender in the NBA is Evan Mobley, he’s being given a tough task by cleaning up any defensive faults either in the lane or on the perimeter, no other player has his versatility or impact

Where’d this graphic come from? ESPN?

Honestly I don’t think he is this season, but I believe he will be the best defender in the NBA over the next several seasons.

Where is this graphic from? I ask because it looks as if it comes from NBA TV, which means this is being discussed nationally. I hope it’s not too little too late!

Lopez will almost certainly get it – his contested shot numbers and block numbers are utterly absurd. Also, while it shouldn’t count for a *defensive* award, the fact that he’s such a potent outside shooter for a 7 footer will almost certainly play into it.

He’ll get his eventually. I’m not worried. He’s deserving as the best defender on the best defensive team and the only guy I can think of that can defend all 5 positions at an elite level. But I think Brook gets it. A bit of a lifetime achievement award and the Bucks are the best team in the league.

He absolutely deserves it THIS year, but it will probably only come to fruition next year unfortunately.

If he doesn’t get it this year, it’s just gonna be fuel for his future competitive fire. League’s on notice.

The contested 3s is the one that really separates him from the other two. He guards bigs and guards at a truly elite level.
