I love Vanderbilt but Rui is so much better with the lineup in crunch time bc he’s the dual threat that Vando just isn’t. Not as good defensively as Vanderbilt but he’s so much better offensively.

Lebron and AD were deferring the offense to rui a few possessions down the 4th quarter. He just didn’t hit a few of them, he’ll get them next time

I hope that we keep him, his defense has improved with the Lakers and If he continues to work on his 3 point game in the offseason he will be a big problem for other teams.

Rui’s the type of player you need in the playoffs because the game slows down and other teams can expose your weaknesses. Vando has too many holes in his offensive game right now. I keep saying this and I keep getting down voted but Vando is going to be unplayable at some point.

Rui played some fantastic disciplined defense down the stretch. He also hit a huge 3 in OT. Vando is great but it’s nice to know Rui can hit shots when he needs to.

From DNP to getting played in crunch time over guys like Vanderbilt, D’lo, and TBJ in the most important game of the season. Rui’s progression in the short time we’ve had him is astonishing.
He came in as a scorer with bad defense. Lakers told him we needed defense and rebounding and he’s done exactly that. Can’t wait to see his improvement in the next few years

He’s a starter quality player, but he never figured out a way to consistently produce for the Wiz (he put up about 13 PPG for several seasons on decent efficiency).
He has the perfect size and height, is capable of great D, is capable of shooting well, etc…
But he doesn’t do any particular thing extremely well.
Contrast Rui with Austin Reaves’ recent explosion since the trade/break. Reaves decided to assert himself, and really just take it to the defense every time. He also began to believe in his shot a lot more. He’s no longer the scrappy fan favorite who had surprisingly good bursts– instead, he’s often the 3rd best player.
I hope Rui one day lives up to his true potential. He has all the tools. Just has to put it together. But the clock ir running.
