The Pacers are trying to trade the No. 7 overall pick for a high-level wing player, per @WindhorstESPN “Indiana has been talking to people about the No. 7 pick. I’ve been told they’ve been trying to get wing players. I think they might be able to, if they’re motivated enough.”

Is the idea to get a later draft pick? I’m a bit surprised, but I’m thinking if they can snag OG, Mikal they would do it and grab Leonard Miller I’m hoping. But I thought Taylor Hendricks woulda been the guy
Just a reminder that Windhorst doesn’t have any Pacers sources. He’s more reliable than the likes of Evan Massey but his Pacers info is secondhand. My guess is Pacers are exploring options and talked to some teams, who then spread the word to Windhorst. I don’t think the Pacers will end up trading the pick. I can’t think of any high-level wings that would be available for 7. The elite guys (like Kawhi, KD, Tatum, etc.) are obviously untouchable. The rest aren’t really worth 7. OG isn’t worth it (he’s an expiring) and Pacers would be better off using picks 26 & 29. Maybe Bridges? But the Nets seem reluctant to trade him, and they have better options available than 7, like trading with the Blazers for pick 3.
7 in this draft for OG or another starting level vet has a very “Kawhi for George Hill” vibe that idk how to feel about until I see the deal.
So we trying to get Bridges or better right?
It says high profile wings
the most rational answer is OG
the pipe dream is Mikal Bridges
but let’s get crazy and speculate!! Clippers trade Paul George for 7+more? Jaylen Brown? Could young forwards like Franz Wagner or Evan Mobley be getable?
crazy takes aside im nervous it’s Zach Lavine
Would prefer to just take Jarace or Hendricks if the only options are Kuminga and OG. I’m not against going after Anunoby but I just think you gotta take advantage of your 2nd top 10 pick in the last 30 years. Trade Buddy, Duarte and every other pick for OG if you have to. Don’t throw the 7th pick away unless you’re getting an all star.
Only way I think this makes sense is if the front office feels they can get their future four with a later pick? Idk how this sub feels about TJD, but his skillset could mesh with our style, does some things better than some of our bigs, and should be available late 1st.
So the trade would maybe be 7+duarte+ smith for OG+13+ future 2nd. How would yall feel about that? I’m not sure if the money works or not, but just speculating as this is interesting, even if it’s from Windworst
If it’s OG for 7, then the Raptors should have to part with 13 as part of the deal. He’s on an expiring deal and is about to get PAID paid. If the Pacers don’t get a little more out of it than OG I’ll be pretty upset.
what about a deal involving #7 and Keldon Johnson?
I think the Pacers would be crazy not to trade 7, but if they absolutely must draft someone at 7, I hope they then package the rest (and some of the redundant 7th men they have) for an impactful player.
I’d take OG in a second. I’d rather keep the pick if it’s Kuminga
Pritchards deals are clever and always have a wrinkle, it’s never some 7th pick for X player straight up deal. There’s always some other angle.
Didn’t Windhorst predict the Ayton offer sheet last year? This doesn’t seem that unlikely to be honest.
That’s what Jarace Walker is!!!!!!!! Only on a rookie deal!!!! I hate KP so much. At this point he’s just rubbing it in the fans faces “I’ll never be fired no matter what I do because I keep cashing in from PG letting us know in advance he wasn’t resigning”
I don’t want kuminga and even tho I like OG I’d rather just keep the pick if he’s the best we can do
Kuz?
Og isn’t really anything special I’m not sure why ya’ll so high on him
