[Fred Katz] The Knicks have declined a request from @TheAthleticNBA for team president Leon Rose to hold an on-the-record media availability. Rose has not spoken on the record to independent media in almost two years & has not done a solo news conference since joining Knicks in 2020.

[[Fred Katz] The Knicks have also declined a request from @TheAthleticNBA for Donte DiVincenzo to speak with reporters. No intro news conference for him. Knicks say his first media availability will not come until training camp, when teams are obligated by NBA rules to make players available](https://twitter.com/fredkatz/status/1684231679274106880?s=46)

I’m curious when the league will just make it a rule like they do for players/coaches.

  3. I get it but we knew they weren’t going to talk so why get mad about it every 6 months lol.

    WHY SHOULD HE

WHY SHOULD ANY PRESIDENT IF YOU AINT IN THE OVAL OFFICE

Their job is to make moves, hire and fire that’s what they’re are paid to do

The owner and president stay off the mic because it doesn’t make sense to give the biggest media market in the world cheap sound bites

Coach yes players yes hotdog vendor maybe

FUCK EM LEON KEEP EM GUESSING MY NIGGA

  5. crazychris4124

dont care as long as we are competitive and fun to watch

  6. Nothing new here, this should not even be news. I just think of Leon as the wizard of oz, making magic behind the curtains…. as long as he does nice moves, I do not care wtf he does

Its so annoying when people complain about this, we’ve made the playoffs 2/3 years and won a series

Considering the fact we were a laughingstock when he came over let the success speak for itself

  8. Coolio1014

Everytime I hear about Leon Rose I start to like him more. He’s done a great job since he came here.

  9. Media is mad because Leon is running a tight ship, no leak, nothing to write about.

Is Knicks Team President part of the Executive or Legislative branch of our government?

  11. iLuvRachetPussy

Team is a second round playoff team. Tons of draft picks, easy cap space we can dump, and really good young pieces.

Idk why it’s news that some random media outlet requested Leon and Leon said … nah! It is what it is.

Good. NY sports media clowns us all the fucking time. They can sit on their ass now.

  14. the less the media has to contort into knickslolbad the better. we’ve had too many regimes that are comfortable spilling everything, i for one love not getting a notification every other day about dennis smith jr eating squid and mills and perry feuding at the deadline. as long as we’re doing well and improving the media can fuck off

  15. KingJoe7-123

I don’t mind. The Knicks finally look competent and competitive again. We all can see the plan for this team anyways. Save assets to eventually trade for a superstar. Nothing we really need to hear from him. Unrelated, but I also like how consistent he is with this stuff. Doesn’t speak to the media when the Knicks play bad(2021-2022 season) or when they do extremely well(this past season).

Keep doing what your doing Leon. Phil held a bunch of press conu

  17. roly_gomez

I’m cool with this move tbh .. media be mad annoying

  18. saltyalertt

BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT ITS OUR JOB – media that local to cause drama

    Get fucked.

  19. Railshock

The media is just mad they can’t bait him into a misquote that they can spin for the rest of the summer.

Keep your hand close to your chest, no reason to risk a blunder when there is nothing to gain.

  21. ihateposers

Lots of casual Knicks fans on here. The idea is accountability. Why were certain decisions made?

What he says is less important to the idea that their decisions are being held accountable. And yes, modern media has turned into MORE of a circus but there needs to be more communication from this front office and the media.

  22. rmccarthy10

Absolutely nobody cares about this except the media. The media gets paid to provide news and interview important people. This is one less person that you get a chance to interview. We don’t care. The media cares and they make a big deal of it and they spin it like we, the fans care… But we don’t.

We are happy seeing an increase in W’s every year. I could care less hearing what Leon Rose says about it

  23. ElectronicZucchini84

Idk why they salty, at this point they should just understand that this is his policy. File a complaint to the league and see where it gets them if they froggy about it.

Media has been using and abusing this franchise for years. Locally and nationally. So now, the front office is looking to take hold of our image and our narrative. I applaud the effort.

I also recognize that means less news is being put out about what our strategy and thinking will be when it comes to the roster, but that’s not always a bad thing. I enjoy Knicks news as much as anyone but if we can gain even a small advantage by not telegraphing our moves? I’ll take it.

  24. JackMeHoff266

Ive been very supportive of Leon’s relationship with the media- the media has demonized our team for decades, so why talk to them? Fuck em

  25. Oliverqueen03

Good. NY media would cherry pick and try to paint them in bad light anyway no matter what he says.
