Full NBA memo sent to all 30 teams regarding rhetoric on trade request made by Damian Lillard and his agent Aaron Goodwin.
> “Recent media reports stated that Damian Lillard’s agent, Aaron Goodwin, called multiple NBA teams to warn them against trading for Lillard because Lillard’s only desired trade destination is Miami. Goodwin also made public comments indicating that Lillard would not fully perform the services called for under his player contract if traded to another team.
> We interviewed Goodwin and Lillard and also spoke with several NBA teams to whom Goodwin spoke. Goodwin denied stating or indicating to any team that Lillard would refuse to play for them. **Goodwin and Lillard affirmed to us that Lillard would fully perform the services called for under his player contract in any trade scenario.** The relevant teams provided descriptions of their communications with Goodwin that were mostly, though not entirely, consistent with Goodwin’s statements to us.

It’s extremely ironic that Haynes is tweeting this out, considering he’s the one who did most of the work on communicating that Dame wouldn’t play if he was traded somewhere other than Miami.

The idea that Dame wouldn’t play for a team other than the Heat and play hard was always ludicrous. If I was a gm for a contender and thought he was the missing piece I would have called that bluff any day.

Honestly think this is because Dame always thought the organization would grant his wishes and this would get done pretty quickly. I mean he reposted his goodbyes on Instagram the day after the request. Longer it stretched out the worse it looks for Dame, most other stars get their wish for the most part. Great for Portland tho.
He needs to void any trade that sends Dame to Miami to send a message to everyone.

I don’t understand this fascination with rings. For most players it’s not going to change your legacy at all. Same winning a ring isn’t elevating him in to top 10 all time and the way he’s going about it is alienating fans from Portland who would love him forever.
