Warriors offense is the worst at creating good looks, and despite that they’re still the best at shooting. Further proof we win in spite of Kerr’s system due to the sheer brilliance of Steph and Klay.

Is it Kerr’s system or Steph and Klay jacking up crazy shots because they’re so good?

  2. unfairomnivore

Is this just for last year? How do they come up with this data? Consistently NBA players (including Steph and Klay) talk about how Kerr is a genius and advantage over our opponents.

It’s because curry takes shots that analytics consider difficult, Kerrs system is great

edit: it’s also not “offense” like the post says. It’s specifically 3 pointers..

Our volume 3 point shooters were steph klay and Poole, no shit analytics says this..

In this case, I think the Warriors are being penalized for not playing much iso ball.

Look at the teams that are 2nd- and 3rd-worst. Denver and Sac create *plenty* of good shots. It’s just not much is in isolation compared to the rest of the league.

Seems like the more “good looks” a team is able to create, the worse they are overall. Strange.

LOL in spite of Kerr system. GTFO bro it’s in spite of bad on court decisions

  7. POKEMONMAN1123456789

Notice how all the good three point shooting teams strangely have worse looks.

It’s interesting that there’s a negative correlation between 3pt shot making and shot creation. You’d think there’d be a positive correlation. OP, what is the formula used to calculate the y axis and x axis values?

You really need threats in the post to make the space on the perimeter.

  10. sriracha82

    This is majority Steph.

In individual 3 point shot quality/shot making charts, Steph always takes the worst shots with the highest make %. His shot selection is an anomaly.

This year add the 3s Klay & JP decided to take….you get this.

Role players always take good 3s with us

Not a Kerr truther but this is such a bad take feels pointless responding. We have bad threes because teams sellout on our threes and defend us different from the rest of the league whilst we have the most talented FU difficult shit taking players. Kerr’s system leverages that into all sorts of open looks for their teammates. Kerr is far from perfect but there is so much more going on in terms of Xs & Os that one stat doesn’t even begin to tell the story of our offense, it’s strengths and failings. It’s just confirmation bias for someone who has already made up their mind likely for personality reasons

  12. So what does this say about Draymond? Is he part of the worst at creating good looks?

  13. CookieMonsterNova

OP wants to go back to the mark jackson days.

    the barnes iso post ups.

gtfo kerrs system revolves around steph. if you don’t see that you don’t watch warriors basketball

This is why people hate “analytics” when in reality it’s just fools like this who have a fancy graph with no context to who ur shooters are

  15. dvasquez93

This is specifically for 3pt shots. No shit we can’t create open 3pt shots, we have the two best 3pt shooters of all time. Any opposing defender who allows them open looks consistently would be cut at halftime.

This doesn’t measure how well a team is producing open midranges and layups, which is one of the major benefits to forcing opposing defenses to sell out to stop threes.

  16. WisdomCow

I call BS on the stats. Let me guess. They don’t count layups, just open looks from outside the key.
