Simmons was pretty awful the first half on both ends of the floor but then made many spectacular plays the second half to rally the Nets back into the game. Gonna be ups and downs like that initially for Ben but of course, you can’t take much from this preseason game where the Nets were missing their best player Mikal and Cam is still out.
Too many just low concentration, irresponsible turnovers, matador perimeter defense. The lack of scoring was even more glaring tonight in the first half with Mikal out. He does look good athletically which is great and always will have the passing talent.
I think that people are getting distracted by the points, but the real value here is that he got Pat Bev ejected. Come playoff time, this will have significant value, although not for the Nets, because we will not be in the playoffs
Looking at statlines in preseason games is idiotic. The important takeaway for Simmons is that he looks healthy, not what stats he posted in a practice setting.

He’s done this every year he was healthy. Show up with some energy, maybe even try a jump shot or two in the preseason. Then the regular season comes around and he’s the same old predictably passive dumb ass.

The important thing for us has literally just been the eye test with him. He looks way closer to what he should be a as a player.
Did he have a bad game? Statistically ya, but he also has had two really good pre season games. You’re not gonna kill it every night lol. Mikal had like 6 points and was awful in the first game. It’s not stats for me at all it’s just about watching him play and he looks Miles better than last season.
