“See, I don’t read that personally as a stray at Porter as much… within the context… I think it’s a compliment in a sense, that’s what you want… That’s the way I viewed it… I didn’t view it as a shot at MPJ, I know some Nuggets fans do… maybe MPJ does, I hope he doesn’t”
KOC and Verno talk about Booth’s comments on MPJ and Bones. KOC seems to imply that it wasn’t meant as a stray at MPJ. Earlier in the pod, they also mention how Porter improved at defense to check off “3 of Booth’s 4 boxes”.
I don’t think Booth’s original comments were necessarily taken completely out of context, but I think the implication from KOC’s words is that this shouldn’t be made out to be some big deal like Booth is shit talking his own players.

I don’t need this to know Calvin didn’t mean any ill will towards MPJ. That’s the risk of these types of articles
This whole thing is just candy to other fanbases that are hoping the nuggets chemistry crumbles.
Booth is a blunt guy, but anyone who follows nuggets timelines understands that at the time of Bones becoming a problem, MPJs defense still wasn’t good. So at that time MPJ and Bones were more similar in that they needed the ball in their hands to be productive which is what Booth is referencing as “me guys”
This all being said, I think it wouldn’t hurt Booth to shoot MPJ a text or call and just give him some validation that he is killin it.
I thought the crazier part of this interview was Booths attempt at building up P Wat by demeaning Cowboy Bruce. His word choice could’ve been way better as to not shit on Bruce when he was a crucial part of our championship season.
I read Booth’s comments as a conflict between Bones and Porter where they couldn’t play with one another. Based on Murray’s comments about Bones shortly afterward I think it starts to make sense.
Him glibly saying “maybe I should have paraphrased that quote” was so gross. Dude knew exactly what he was doing.
Agree that this was blown out of proportion, but the quotes are what they are.. and they just objectively don’t look good without context and when not assuming the best intentions. Hopefully Booth learns from this, and has already reached out to MPJ and BB as a courtesy to clear the air – they both played their roles exceptionally well the entire playoff run, and don’t deserve any of the unintended flak.
It didn’t offend me at all, actually reading the article
Yeah I think Booth’s comments are over blown, other fanbases hoping our chemistry falls apart
is there a transcript of the whole interview? I only saw the ringer article which makes me think that there is quite a bit of missing context to the quotes that are popping off on r/nba about MPJ/bones and bruce
