The New York Knicks and Cavs All-Star Donovan Mitchell has been linked to the Knicks since his draft night. Fast forward to today, two summers after they failed to acquire him from Utah, reports are flaring up again about Spida potentially being traded to New York. And now, with the significant issues the Cleveland Cavilers are facing, it may be only a matter of time before Donovan Mitchell is on the trade block. The Knicks FO are in no hurry to build upon what we have bcuz in their minds, the fans and celebreties are showing up and spending $$, so no need to really do anything different.
What is the contract they will endure and what are they giving up for him? The problem is if the Knicks can wait until the off season and get him why wouldn't they and for Cleveland they may be looking for assets now that the Knicks feel they could wait I don't think he is that much of a game changer to do that so it could potentially become a loss for Cleveland to not get something for him instead of letting him walk for nothing so it really depends on the Knicks either they decide waiting hopefully to get him but other teams maybe are in need for his services if the Knicks don't get him now they won't get him in the offseason because he'll be gone
The sooner that we can get Spida on this team the better. JB and Randle are both on great contracts that will both end at the exact time that Spida’s deal ends. All three will be getting significant pay raises on their next deals and will pose huge salary cap implications under the new rules. Spida is currently making 35 million. There is no waiting on Spida in free agency because he will never reach it in Cleveland. We cannot make the same mistake twice and allow him to be sent to someone else. Leon has to make this deal happen at the trade deadline
Anyone that says that a JB/Spida backcourt can’t work my response to that is, Bring Spida here and let me see for myself that it can’t work. Because what I’m seeing now is a backcourt of JB Grimes/DDV is not working for us either. I’d much rather take my chances with JB/Spida than the options that we currently have and are rolling out there. GET SPIDA HERE! ASAP
Is the perfect time to strike the Cavs are down bad and we can finesse the situation. RJ and Grimes and one to two first round picks for Mitchell.. that will save us IQ and Evan Fournier for another trade before the deadline to get a wing and a back up PG. We will get a lot of contracts off our books and the players will be happy because they’ll have more minutes. and the Cavs will be in no position to ask for absurd trades because they know Donovan will walk anyway a season later..
They will be great offensively but what about defense, they not stopping anybody so how great a team will they really be ?
What kind of trade package from the Knicks gets Mitchell in NY? I don’t know if they would be interested in RJ? Maybe a package around Quickley +Fournier, picks?

If n.y. could obtain Mitchell's skill set the team would have to also get tall lengthy athletic players too complement him and Brunson and i personally don't think thibs could coach 2 dynamic players like those two.

He’s a Knick fan who don’t want to mess up this Knicks team which he will defensively and offensively at the backcourt because of them not being 6 feet 6 at least.
The Knicks are too poor defensively. It would make it worst and losing the height of 6’7 RJ. I don’t want to hear how potent their back court offense going to be. The Heat, the Celtics and the Bucks will mess them up with their offense and the Knicks would have to double team them a lot.
Trade for Spida and Andrew Wiggins. That i think pushes them closer to contention.

Mitchell is a second option on a contender, just like Brunson. Both would also take away from each others strength and not enhance it.

Just FYI, the Cavs have the same amount of wins as the Knicks. And Donovan has always said he want to win, above all else. Also, the Cavs have a glut of guards with Strus, Levert, Okoro with rookies CPJ and Emoni waiting for run time. They can easily fill Garlands role. Donovan is sliding to the PG role and had a career high 13 assist last night. And the Cavs would be looking for the best deal, if they ever trade Donovan.
