The Ultimate Nets Team

The Ultimate Nets Team

In this new Ultimate Team Series I make the best team I believe possible picking players from all eras of NBA history it isn’t just about how talented the teams are but I’m also trying to build teams that would gel and execute well together today we’re looking at the ultimate Nets

Team before I get started here are the rules you need to know to build each franchise’s Ultimate Team I will be picking a starting five a second unit representing each position and then three additional rotation players at any position I choose in total there will be 13 roster spots it’s worth mentioning

That I will not simply be building these teams based on how talented each player is but I’ll also be factoring in how well these players would do together as teammates so without further Ado let’s get into it the starting point guard is the all-time great Jason kid simply put

He’s one of the greatest passers in basketball history as his ability to facilitate was why the Nets made it to the NBA finals twice in the 2000s beyond that kid was also an elite defensive point guard as he made a remarkable nine all defense teams in his NBA career he

Led the league in assist per game four times including the 03 season where he averaged 19 points nine assists six rebounds and two steals with the incredible superstars in this starting lineup kid will be providing plenty of highlight connections when it comes to running the floor he’s the safest bet

You can make that’s why today’s video is brought to you by DraftKings the countdown to Christmas is over and today draft Kings has one more gift for new customers that will certainly put you in the holiday spirit right now all new customers who bet just $5 will’ll get

You a fan of multiple teams and want to bet on them all Kim combine multiple bets together for a shot at an even bigger payout download the DraftKings app and sign up using my promo code Johnny Arnette new customers who use promo code Johnny Arnette and bet $5

Will get 150 in bonus bets instantly that’s promo code Johnny Arnette only at draftking Sportsbook the starting shooting guard is half man half amazing Vince car Carter obviously he’s known most for his time in Toronto but Carter was still an elite player in New Jersey especially in

His first year with the team in 2005 with the Nets Carter averaged 27 points six rebounds and five assists on 46% shooting and a lethal 42.5% from three-point range with his tremendously deep bag he’ll be a threat in transition in the mid-range and on the perimeter starting a small forward is none other

Than Dr J Julius Irving in his three years with the New York Nets Irving led the ABA in scoring twice getting as high as 29.3 points per game in 1976 he was also a dominant rebounder and shot Blocker in his youth putting up some insane stat lines he was simply one

Of the most athletically gifted players in NBA history just imagine a young Jason kid Vince Carter and Julius Irving running the fast break and what you have is a recipe for a nightmare for opposing defenses starting at Power Forward is the 7 foot assassin Kevin Durant KD will

Operate as a mid-range and three-point specialist and with the amount of space created by his star teammates along with his all-time great point guard he’ll have plenty of wide openen looks from deep in 2022 ktie averaged about 30 points seven rebounds and six assists while having incredible efficiency

Splits starting at Center is the 71 Allstar Brook Lopez what the younger viewers need to understand is that Brook Lopez with the Nets was nowhere close to being the same player that he is today in New Jersey and Brooklyn Lopez was not a face up three-point shooter but rather

He was a more traditional Center who went to work with his back to the basket for a while in the early 201 TS he was genuinely in the conversation with Dwight Howard for the title of the best center in the game between 2010 and 2017 he averaged about 20 points and seven

Rebounds on 50% shooting from the field now on to the second unit the backup point guard is the elite dual threat Darren Williams you can argue that his best was his time in Utah but without question he was still a threat in his first couple of Seasons with the Nets in

2012 he averaged 21 points nine assists and three rebounds on 41% shooting from the field if a floor General with a more scoring mindset is ever what’s needed then Williams will make a solid sub for kid the backup shooting guard is the 1990 Sharpshooter dzon petravic as a skilled European player with tremendous

Range he was way ahead of his time he’s often described by his peers from that era as one of the greatest Shooters in NBA history it makes sense considering how he averaged as high as 22 points per game in New Jersey while shooting 52% from the field and 45% from three-point

Range due to his tragic and abrupt passing and a car accident we never got the chance to see the very best of petravic but regardless what we did see was pretty darn good as well the backup small forward is the ABA Superstar Rick Barry having this man come off the bench

Seems pretty wrong but that just goes to show how strong the starting unit is Barry was ahead of his time as he was a dominant scorer with a deadly pull-up Jumper in 1972 with the New York Nets he averaged 31 points seven rebounds and four assists on 46% shooting coming off

The bench he’ll be an all-time great spark plug tearing up opposing Defenders of the second unit the backup power forward is the Dynamic Athlete Kenyan Martin this 69 high flyer was one of the most reoccurring recipients off of Jason kid’s playmaking and he was actually an Allstar in 2004 as he averaged roughly

17 points nine rebounds and 1.3 blocks on 49% shooting from the field in the instances where Kevin Durant will need a rest Martin will provide a much meaner and more traditional approach the backup center is the 610 Beast Derek Holman technically he played more of his career

At the four spot than at the five but he’ll fit in well at the center for this second unit he was an All-Star in 1994 and that year he put up a stat line of 20 points 11 rebounds and two blocks on 45% shooting now on to the three

Rotation players the first player is the 67 small forward Bernard King he only spent his first couple of seasons in New Jersey but regardless he had had an immediate impact and produced one of the strongest rookie seasons in NBA history as he averaged 24 points 9 rebounds and

1.5 Steals on 48% shooting with his power and determination in transition along with his skill in his mid-range game he’ll be a sure thing off the bench the second rotation player is the 67 star Richard Jefferson he was a fantastic Above the Rim athlete who was

Quite the teammate to Jason kid in the mid 2000s as a reliable Slasher in 2006 he averaged nearly 20 points 7 rebounds and four assists while hitting 49% of his shots with his energy and athleticism he’ll be a terrific sub to take the momentum the third rotation

Spot and the final spot on this roster goes to the do-it-all combo guard Michael Ray Richardson with New Jersey in 1985 he was an NBA Allstar and he was a tremendous performer on both ends of the Court That season he averaged 20 points eight assists and a league

Leading three Steals on 47% shooting so here’s a final look at the complete roster of this ultimate Nets team I must say this team has no shortage of offensive weapons and they will be a handful on the fast break with plenty of highlight Slams on a nightly basis if

There’s one area where they’re relatively weak it’s probably in the paint but with their terrific playmaking with their Elite shooting and with their Elite slashing many nights they won’t need to win the battle of the points in the paint do you think this net team will make the ultimate playoffs in the

Eastern Conference let me know your opinion also here is my list of honorable mentions should any of these players have made the roster instead I look forward to hearing your thoughts in the comment section below thanks for watching as always make sure to like subscribe for more basketball content

In this series, I assemble what I believe is the greatest team possible for each franchise. In this specific video, we’re looking at the Brooklyn/New Jersey/New York Nets.
5 starters, 5 backups, and 3 rotations players. A total of 13 roster spots on each Ultimate Team. It’s not just about talent, but it’s about building a team that works and gels together.

The game of Basketball has been my passion since I was 5 years old. I grew up as a kid watching my dad’s recorded VHS tapes of playoff games through the 70s and 80s, and collected all the Basketball cards. Something about the game and what it represents just hooked me from a very young age.
My love for the game only continues to grow as time goes on. I love studying and analyzing the game, with an unbiased perspective. Feel free to subscribe, follow me on social media, and celebrate this amazing game and it’s rich history with me!

Merry Christmas to you all! Opened gifts, and my wife got me Mamba Mentality (Kobe’s book), and a TON of Basketball cards. Lol. Got anything cool? More on topic, is this Nets team a Top 10, Top 20, or Bottom 10 Squad in the Ultimate Series??

  2. Loving this series.
Excellent scoring, lots of shooting… I mean Rick Barry coming off the bench?! Wow!
But boy what lack of quality centers. Derrick Coleman?! Yikes!

  3. A fast team which will have plenty of opportunity to score on a fast brake, and spectacularly at that! But should a game slow down and become more phisical they might have issues. Good to see Dražen Petrović honoured for the little time he did contribute to the Nets. With the likes of Divac and Sabonis (and some others I may have forgotten) he was part of that first influx of European players into the NBA.

    Merry Christmass!

  4. As a Nets fan, I literally do not understand how you could have Micheal Ray Richardson, but not Buck Williams

  5. My only issue with this series is I'm seeing too many repeat players. I'm expecting to see Jason Kidd in the Suns one and Vince Carter in the Raptors one. Is KD going to be in the Suns one too?

  6. I will agree that Rick Barry is a great player, but he clashed with more people than Wilt, which is saying something.

  7. When I am correct, there will be 4 teams with Kevin Durant.
Is there any other player with 4 or maybe 5 teams? (Maybe Shaq?)

  8. This team looks fun, but I think they're going to get bullied in the paint. I'm going to say they'll be in the bottom third of the league.

  9. Kenny Anderson is better than what Daron Williams ever did in NJ

If you want a scoring floor general, then Kyrie deserves that spot over Williams. 💯

  10. I like this year’s Nets squad
It’s has enough scoring with its good defense
Could have included bridges but I am not complaining

  11. I can’t believe that you left Buck Williams off. He’s the all time franchise leader in games, minutes, 2pt FG’s, FT’s, rebounds and Win Shares, and he only merits an honourable mention, yet you add five small forwards, and then lament that the team is weak in the paint. I think that you’ve had too much eggnog.

  12. Hey Jonny, when you eventually get to the thunder/supersonics, will you separate them or combine them in one video?

  13. Usually I'm on board with your choices, but the disrespect to Buck Williams– the franchise's best NBA player pre-Kidd- is palpable.

  14. Buck Williams needs to be on this team. Bernard King was a terrific player, but Buck played longer for the Nets and was a consistent inside force in the 80's.

  15. I would get KD outta there and replace him with Buck. Yes, he's one of the greatest ever but he's not a Net. Joe Johnson should also be on there. But please, PLEASE erase harden's name of that list.

  16. The facts that Kenyon Martin and Richard Jefferson are #11 & #12 respectively is CRAZY!! I thought Stephon Marbury would have made the cut. This team is definitely a 1st round playoff contender.

  17. That starting 5 is lowkey crazy. Kidd/Carter is an extremely dynamic backcourt with size, skill, and elite athleticism. Dr. J, Durant, and Lopez is a really versatile frontcourt. There are mismatches everywhere. I remember the Nets big 3 with Durant, Irving, and Harden had great offense, but bad defense and reliability. This starting 5 is at least as good offensively and way better on defense. The shooting isn't bad, either. I think some of your other teams ran into the problem of spacing. But this Nets starting unit doesn't have this problem. It's extremely well balanced.

  18. Rick barry is a legend but i'd personally put kyrie at the backup sg and petrovic at the sf spot. Both arent gonna be defensive threats but both will provide buckets if more 3pt shooting is needed. But great video nonetheless.

  19. Yeah this was the first one of these you actually kind of blew. I get the Kyrie & Harden thing, but leaving off Buck Williams is the single worst thing you've done this entire series. Not only is he basically Mr. Net, he gives you everything you yourself claim this team lacks. Easily should have been here over D-Will, King, or even Derrick Coleman.

Also don't dig the gambling ad. I know you got to make money however you can, but yeah.

  20. PG Kidd
    SG Carter
    SF Dr. J
    PF Buck Williams
    C Brook Lopez

    PG Bill Melchionni
    SG Kenny Kittles
    SF Richard Jefferson
    PF Derrick Coleman
    C Billy Paultz

    11 Chris Morris
    12 Mike Gminski
    13 John Williamson

  21. This is definitely a better team than I intuitively expected. Still don't see them as top 5 in the east as the Celtics, Bulls, 76ers, Bucks, and Heat are clearly better. Would these Nets make an 8 team playoff? I don't know. It's hard to say who of the four would be left out between the Magic, Cavs, Knicks, and Nets. Bare in mind we haven't see his Pacers and Wizards teams yet so we'll have to see those to make a full judgement. (I'm supremely confident that the Raptors won't be much a factor here.) With Durant, Erving, and Carter to do the scoring, Kidd can mainly focus on his passing and Lopez can focus on defense, rebounding, and rim protection. A very dynamic starting lineup that can score lots of points while also covering the other aspects of the game, especially since Kidd was also an elite defensive point guard and KD is also an underrated defender. If the starting lineup is cold from the perimeter, Petrovic becomes the perfect 6th man. Willams can help keep Kidd's minutes down and Coleman/Martin can be for the 2nd unit what Lopez is for the first. And Barry off the bench is pretty strong. King and Jefferson provide excellent offense at the end of the bench. Only change I would make would be Marbury over Richardson. This is another team that could finish as high as 6 if things broke their way. (Same with Magic, Cavs, Knicks.) I'm pretty ironclad on Celtics 1, Bulls 2, and some combination of 76ers, Bucks, Heat 3-5 in some order. I am interested to see how good the Pacers and Wizards turn out as far as the East goes.
