I’m actually feeling something I haven’t felt in a long time. I cared about the outcome of this game. I think it’s called emotions. 🥹

  2. Cheechers23

I actually saw people on Twitter say Pascal has given up on this team. Absolutely awful take. 36 points on 13/20 shooting and 5/8 from 3. Extend that man.

Edit: I want to add a thought I had watching this game. Scottie is taking on more defensive responsibility with OG gone. Keeping Pascal to share/manage his offensive responsibilities is not a bad thing IMO

I don’t think we needed to evaluate for the past 2.5 years to come to the conclusion that Raptors would look better with more guards.

RJ and IQ could be better scoring, but what I really liked was that they both can handle the ball and create a shot for themselves or others.

Even defensively, I think our guard defence was better today than most of the season.

The entire teams looks much smoother, and Siakam and Yak had one of their best games of the season.

Finally we are watchable again. Gary was the only real disappointment today.

We did our best to throw that one away, great to start this new era with a win. Some thoughts / observations –

    * That Scottie rebound towards the end of the fourth was fucking biblical.

    * Its crazy how we went from having one playable point guard for the last 4 years, to one of the better point guard rotations in the league. IQ is a quality starter (though he called his own number too much in the 4th tonight) and Dennis is one of the best back ups in the league.

    * RJ is a fucking Ox. Plays tough. Clutch free throws (how many games have we lost the last couple of years on free throws). Loved the idea of a buy low on him. His floor is a solid starter and his ceiling is the third option on a very good team.

    * Not under the microscope because of the win, but Darko had some questionable in game management moves as usual. He needs to take time outs to stop runs faster. Leaving our top guys on the bench for too long during Cavs runs. We need to do a better job of keeping our foot on the oppositions throat when we are up big. We have blown / almost blown comfortable leads too many times this year.

    * Siakam is too good to trade for pennies on the dollar. I would rather re-sign him and see what we can do the rest of the year. Push for the play-in to get this new group some reps and revisit trading him for more value when he has 4/3.5 years on his contract this coming offseason or at the deadline next year. What is the best player we can get for a combination of Thad, Boucher, OPJ + the Detroit SRP we got in the OG deal? Our bench needs one more forward that can give us solid mins off the bench.

    * I’ve always felt that Niang has a very punchable face

    KNICKS W🤝RAPS W – it’s a win-win baby

  6. Major9000

The Offense just looked so much better but that could also be because Siakam finally hit some 3s.

And getting some dynamic guard play from Quickly was great to watch.

  7. Un-Quote

Free throws and defence should be the only practice game plan for a month. Bring in Steve Nash as a special guest to show these guys how to shoot at the line haha.

  8. Quickley will get better, rough game but I’m so excited to see his progression.

  9. ArcticDesertEagle

Not gonna lie, this was the first game since the bubble season where I was genuinely able to just sit back and enjoy watching Raptors basketball

What a breath of fresh air

  10. Raptors legends RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley

  11. PhileinS

thoughts on RJ? I was thinking hes actually pretty decent then he went and goofed two transition plays lol. He had good impact overall and IQ is nice, hopefully less fouls next game

  12. saltface14

Definitely could tell they hadn’t played together before, there were so many possessions where guys just didn’t know where to be. But overall the offense is better and the depth is better so I’ll take it

  13. RoysRBoy

So happy we didnt get cheesed out this game from some kid named Merrill

  14. Bakkes69

IQ got his rhythm screwed up with the fouls and missed a couple floaters he usually won’t. RJ was aggressive, definitely some mistakes but was solid. Didn’t love Scottie’s game much at all tonight, some good defense and rebounds down the stretch. Siakam absolutely carried us.

  15. naveedhahmad

Yak was fantastic today. 14/11/4/3. Had great chemistry with Quickley in particular. Deserves his flowers 🌺

  16. Ecstatic-Buy-2907

Sucks that quickley got into foul trouble. Really ruined his rhythm

We got the full RJ experience tonight. The bully ball, the 1 on 1 master, the turnovers in transition, the taking on 4 defenders at once, but most importantly two clutch free throws and a clutch foul to win us the game

Hopefully the defense is figured out soon

  17. Killyouifyouuseemoji

An underrated aspect of RJ coming with IQ is that he can help convince Quick that Toronto is a place that you want to be.

  18. Afghanpapi

Those early fouls on IQ really threw him off

  19. TJStrawberry

Honestly a great showing by IQ and RJ for their first games with less than 48 hours of practice. Pretty excited to see how they mesh with more time. Our offence is looking fun again.

  20. Busy-Smile989

Team is definitely more fun to watch now.

  21. hennessyisrael

Siakam still the best player on this team
