Chris Finch says Knicks “punked” Wolves on glass all game
Chris the second quarter kind of were the defensive breakdowns happening for you guys I mean it was uh they weren’t breakdowns defensively they were uh breakdowns on the box outs I mean they were basically just punking us on the glass mostly um and then you know hit us on
Cut some cuts and stuff like that but um you know Second Chance points really were what put separation in the game the the offense I think it was seven turnovers that quarter as well mhm rest of the game did a decent job limiting those what kind of what was off rhythm
In in that quarter yeah I mean just some wild passing you know for the most part like driving into the same stuff that’s been plaguing us driving into a crowd um you know trying to frad the needle in the P you know into a packed paint um
You know um that kind of stuff so how hard is it to the way you guys play defense you’re physical and and it requires a lot of energy and focus as the as the season goes on is is it tough to try to maintain that on a night in
Night Out Bas I mean it shouldn’t be I mean I don’t think I don’t think it’s been you our defensive Focus or um or maintaining it I mean you know there’s yeah there’s some moments when we’re better than others but I I didn’t think tonight was like I mean we didn’t we
Were flat in the first half I don’t know I don’t know what it was we didn’t have our best game we didn’t have our aame but you know was uh pleased that we you know fought back into the game even when we got down big we kept fighting back
And um you know you can’t do that unless you’re guarding at a high level so um but yeah turnovers offensive it was a possession game I mean they had uh you know more shots than we did J M comes in really ignites that that run three guys late third early in the
Fourth is it is it hard not to get him more minutes yeah I mean I mean he’s now played in you know three of the last uh handful of games and every single time he’s come in and have you know um uh a super positive impact so as we said it
You know at halftime it certainly felt like a JM game because we needed that juice um but and you know we thought we thought that position or we still believe that position could be situational um but if somebody comes and takes it then somebody comes and takes
It and it looks like jmx’s on his way to doing that right now uh another positive is Carl seems at least offensively back on track especially in that opening in the fourth quarter yeah uh what was be key for him uh you know I thought um his decision making was pretty quick
You know like he’s been kind of holding a lot I thought this time he you know shot it or drive it did a good job there uh you know he went to him a little bit more in the post probably should have done even more so down the stretch um
You know got some decent looks from three so did they do a good job on on ant in the fourth or kind of what did you see that made for him I didn’t think that they did any better job on Fourth they did whole game I you know it was
Obviously the the two turnovers and the tough shot that was um kind of emblematic of his of his fourth but I didn’t think I didn’t see anything different that they did on him on the fourth you know so when you’re going up against a like grimy kind of maximize everything they
Have on that side you start to look at like this kind of like a playoff style barometer I mean top of the Western Conference but the bigger picture is obviously bigger than just finishing high in the West yeah take these games against teams like that and try to look
At specific leverage to tweak moving into when it gets to April uh I’m not sure I fully understand what you’re talking about but I mean I think we’re pretty you know physical I think we can be pretty grimy defensively we have guys who can who really like to score it but
Um you know we’re always looking at ways that you know things may or may not hurt us in the future things that we can do better and adjust you know um so I don’t know if that answers your question but they’re more the Knicks are more of a
Playoff type defense and you’ll see on the average given night on a regular you talking about what their physicality and stuff like that um I mean I guess there’s some physical teams you know throughout the league I mean we play the Lakers the other day they’re pretty physical real physical
Actually um yeah so I mean we’ll take from it what we can and and keep moving forward is there anything you thought kind of just had a very good start to the game yeah anything you thought changed in that second quarter yeah just I mean our I thought our energy just
Kind of dipped I thought our start to the game was good we made some shots we got a few stops but I didn’t think our energy was super high and it kind of maintained that level they found another gear we didn’t respond so how how have you just kind of felt
You know this is kind of the middle headed towards the end of you know a really tough stretch of of your schedule how have you just thought overall you guys have kind of navigated I mean pretty well I mean we still got a bunch of games coming up here against really
Really good teams you know we go on the we come home play New Orleans you know they they um they got us last time we played them uh then we go on the road so it’s it’s tough but um I don’t know what we are next I think we’re I don’t know
Maybe 7 and three 7 four 7 and four something like that um and um you know that’s uh can’t be too piggy about that [Applause] so
