JV seems like a nice guy and I dig his beard and anyone here who is all pissed like he’s mediocre-at-best on purpose to irritate the fans and is all “fucking asshole bum!” needs to calm down; he’s just a guy who isn’t great at the job we need him to do, and I’m sure that bugs *him* too…probably a lot more than it bugs any of us. But yeah, while I obviously don’t think we need to throw shit on the guy and call him names, I’ve done enough carrying water for him as our HC.

I still think too many people act like swapping him out will fix everything – I think getting a good starting PG even with JV would improve us, and getting a big ol’ big body to be a heftier center than Clax would also make us improve even with JV as coach, and I think both those moves would improve us more than if we kept this roster and just swapped out for an available HC – but yeah, the reality is he *is* part of the problem. I like him and wanted it to work out, for him to excel here, but this just isn’t the right place.

They clearly don’t want 3 coaches on the payroll any sooner than absolutely necessary if at all – we’re still paying Nash – so I doubt he gets moved until the off-season because this wasn’t going to be a big season for us anyway. We probably could have strived for a first round exit, and there’s time enough and our record isn’t so bad that that’s not impossible, but with the way we’ve been playing, the unlikeliness of Ben coming back for any extended period of time at a level we need, etc. I’m not hanging any hopes on a post-season. I’m just keeping my eyes on the Feb. deadline and what we can due to shore up things for next season.

I wish JV the best just like Nash, in all his future endeavors; I don’t have personal grudges or take it as a slight when someone isn’t good enough for this gig…the NBA is competitive, and to even make it to that level is impressive, but not everyone is cut out for a HC gig, or maybe just not cut out for the roster we have and situation we are in. I think we were overquick to extend him; maybe we wanted to project stability and certainty with the future plan in the wake of the mess of KD/Kyrie just under a year ago? I always try to remain optimistic, like I did when Nash was hired with no HC experience, but like that too, there’s been a gnawing doubt in the back of my head, and everytime I defended JV against mean-spirited comments here, even as I typed my defense I knew that while the level of venom was uncalled for, many of the practical complaints about him were valid. I just don’t feel the need to call him an asshole over it.

Again, I think we would improve by more degrees with a decent starting PG rather than a coaching swap, but at this point I’m down for any change that makes next season look a brighter prospect.

**TL;DR:** Our coach isn’t a bum or an asshole for being mediocre, but his extension was not warranted; we’d improve with a good PG, or even a sizable big, more than we would with HC swap, but at this point I think we would still improve with a HC swap. It’s just not likely to be a move we make before summer.

People who want Marks fired are probably gonna be disappointed he’s more of Tsai’s right hand man than an employee he runs the show. Plus we don’t even know if he got a new contract already so firing him might make Tsai have another guy on the payroll to sit at home if he’s canned which I doubt he wants.

Spence, Royce, and DFS all need to be moved by the deadline Spence is completely checked out trying not to get hurt so he can get a new contract with his new team cause he already knows Brooklyn ain’t giving him one.

If we don’t land Murray I think it’s safe to say our season is over it’s just the cold truth. Who knows when Ben will come back and if he’ll remain healthy to even finish the season. We can’t trade the Twins cause no one is gonna give us a haul for them cause they ain’t got any assets left. Why does everyone act like Mikal and Johnson are super old they’re only 27!! People act like having rookies play alongside them would be a two timelines thing lol. Randle and Brunson are slightly older and no one calls them old? Lauri is 26 and just starting to pop off. Shai is already 25 and didn’t make the playoffs as the first option for years until now and no one calls him old?

I feel sorry for some of the people I know and online that gambled on us being over 37 wins this season thinking it was easy money. This is why you never fuck with Vegas they know how to run the numbers to make good predictions.

I think the Nets should do everything possible to get their picks back from the Rockets – even if that requires offering up Bridges. Maybe the Rockets will overpay since Fertitta seems like the impatient type.

Then they need to do a full tear down. This team is going nowhere with Bridges as their best player. Then you can trade DFS, O’Neale, Dinwiddie and Cam Johnson for picks or young players. I would target both Kuminga and Dejounte Murray.

Claxton is about to get more expensive and I don’t think Cam Thomas is a guy on a winning team – even as a sixth man scoring option.

Let Simmons play out his contract unless you can attach lesser picks to him for a bad expiring this year. Maybe the slimmest of possibility he’ll rehab enough value for next season and his expiring contract can be traded for flotsam and picks for teams trying to get out of the luxury tax.
