The Pelicans are open to moving Herb Jones, per @HPbasketball “The Pelicans are thought to be open to moving Herbert Jones. They’re high on Jones, but it’ll be difficult for the team to pay their stars, Jones and Trey Murphy III.”

Id trade Pritchard, filler, unprotected first, 2 protected firsts for jones

  2. You gotta get to about $10m in salary for this to work. Don’t see it.

Just mental math, would be something like Pritchard, Svi, Banton, Stevens, and maybe Walsh

  3. coacoanutbenjamn

He makes 12 million this season so the deal would have to be Pritchard, Svi, Banton, Stevens, and Brissett

I also think other teams offer more than we will. Unfortunately he could end up in Philly

  4. You’d need to ship the whole bench basically lol. But I’m a big herb guy bud actually give it a bit of thought

Trading a young talented player on a good contract just because their ownership is too cheap to pay the tax. Sad

You can’t subtract that much from this roster right now and Herb Dukes should probably be starting somewhere anyway….That guy rules

  7. Herb Jones would be amazing but Trey Murphy is already freaking good enough for me lol. He fits the TPE

If we’re willing to shell out FRPs for a young wing, Quentin Grimes would be a much more realistic option due to his low salary. Good young player who isn’t getting much playing time on the Knicks.

That crazy if true – Herb’s one of the best defensive wings in the league and his 3 ball has been nice this season

Pels really choosing Trey over Herb?? Trey is great but losing Herb would nerf their defense hard.

if Valanciunas is available he would be the go-to target. Too bad the cap situation kinda sucks

Second apron doesn’t allow us to sign a player making 12million.

  13. Man…I’m a bama guy and I’d love to have Herb on this roster but I don’t know how feasible that is.

We cant afford to keep him so we’d be viewing him as a short term asset while other teams will likely be valuing him as a long term part of there team. Recipe for us getting majorly outbid

I live in Nola and can’t imagine Herb actually getting traded. I just don’t see a scenario where trading him would help them in the short term or long term. He single handedly makes the defense capable.

Certainly not for the 4 bodies and picks the Celtics would offer since the Pels don’t have roster spots for that, and because if they are just going after picks, there may as well just trade Zion (team has been just as good without him as with him given their depth)

Honestly if there’s anyone the Celtics should want from Nola it’s Naji Marshall.

He’s a huge energy bench guy. Plays the 3 and 4, capable from 3 (more than just capable this year), super cheap, and you get his Bird rights.

He’s also starting to lose PT in Nola because Larry Nance is back and Jordan Hawkins is demanding more PT

one of the best defensive wings in the league with usable offense on a bargain deal that cannot be easily matched by the celtics. he’s probably not getting traded and if he is it sure as hell won’t be to boston

I’m surprised they would take Murphy over jones. Feels like their starting 5 is rounded out very well with him as their best defender. Does a team that starts CJ Zion and BI really need more offense ?

I don’t see us giving up the draft capital needed to trade for an overqualified 7th man. Herbs a legit player and should go to a team be can close games on, which isn’t Boston

The way he hasn’t traded any distant firsts except for the ones in the Jrue and White trades makes me think Brad is saving the picks for something big (I’m not saying but just saying Ja or SGA on this team would be insane)
