    Damn, they really shredded him.

Kinda makes sense though, the team just (rightfully?) never bought in.

    > “When pressed specifically about his star’s claim that the team needed to “be coached better,” Griffin let out a nervous chuckle.
    >
    > “I agree,” he said, before his team went out and immediately fell behind by 33 points en route to their fourth loss in five games. ”

    lmao

    >> “Sometimes as coaches we are too smart for our own selves,” Griffin said. “[A] couple players came to me — I won’t disclose — but they wanted Brook deeper in the drop and I was smart enough to listen to them. It paid off tonight.”

Me when I’m bad at my job

The post firing media dump is here.

Some of this is bad (the stotts situation is fucked), some of this is just mild or him being bad at his job which honestly reflects poorly on Giannis for demanding this hire and the front office not ignoring it and going with nurse.

Like griffin accepting the players intervention and gracefully saying they were right and he needed to listen is a good learning experience for a rookie head coach. Issue is this is a win now team with older vets who can’t wait.

Just a bad hire for both parties

    Bucks scapegoating Adrian griffin💀

  5. TallanoGoldDigger

Bro this is Griffin’s “Russ is a Vampire” article

  6. Tragic-tragedy

You know something is sus when the rookie head coach berates his top assistant (who has 10 years of experience coaching one of the stars) causing him to leave in training camp for wanting to have a word with the players. Just shows that Griffin really had no hold of the team from day one.

  7. Competitive_Quiet179

Dang so stuff already started to go downhill after the first 4-5 games

  8. oliverlifts

Tbh I feel for the guy. Seems like he was trying hard, but just got in over his head and lost the locker room.

  9. Toeknee99

Bucks really trying to distract that they hired Doc Rivers. 💀

Dedicate each reason to an episode on Netflix

It’s funny how far talent can take you in basketball. Griffin was terrible at his job and the Bucks are still great.

Raptors are 2-0 on first year head coaches. One was a playoff defensive minded coach, the other is a full developmental coach.

Bucks just threw a guy under the bus who barely showed he could coach a team, even on the raptors it seemed like most of the new assistant coaches were useless besides nurse. We gave griffin a opportunity to coach this one time when nurse got ejected and it looked like he was just letting everyone play without actually coaching them

We went from an elite coaching staff in 2018-22 and literally every single one of them got poached by every team so then we had a bunch of-new first time assistant coaches and griffin

Article sponsored by the Bucks, sure the truth is somewhere between Griffin wasn’t great at his job and Giannis just wanted his ass outta there

  14. ror_shahk

Incident 10, raptors didnt even hire him and their motto has always been internal growth.

  15. Arctic365

My take away from this article is that the Bucks have an assistant coach named Oppenheimer

  16. Otherwise-Tale9671

Reading this makes me hope the Bucks have a first round exit this season…

No matter how many hit pieces on Griffin come out, this will always reflect poorly on Milwaukee. You fired a championship coach for “underperforming” then hired a rookie coach at the request of the star that never bought in. That just doesn’t make sense unless Griffin is a HOF interviewer. Sounds like you didn’t have a plan from the start, nor did you do your due diligence.

  18. Nickproffitt

If I just read this article and didn’t know better I’d have assumed the bucks were below .500

  19. The Bucks have looked pretty rough and inconsistent all season, and they’re still number 2. That’s gotta be an encouraging sign

  20. RedditUser538xxx

Isn’t this what happened to doc last go around

  21. kwagmire9764

But why didn’t Giannis want Nurse? I haven’t seen any reason for that. Anybody here know?

  22. nobraininmyoxygen

I think it’s clear he was in over his head. The question is why did Giannis want him? Did Giannis feel he’d have a bigger voice in scheme, playcalls, etc with a newer coach or did he simply think he’d be a good coach?

  23. PetalumaPegleg

Post-game, Antetokounmpo lamented the team’s lack of effort. “We cannot rely on our talent every time, you know?” Antetokounmpo said. “I think we were just playing with the game. Sometimes when you play with the game, you lose.”

And then they hired, checks notes, Glenn Rivers the “C’mon guys… C’mon ” coach who hasn’t had a plan past give the ball to the star in about … Ever?

  24. arseking15

First of all this article is gross. Just a gigantic hit piece on a rookie coach lol. Just not needed at all.

2nd, i find a couple things weird. The stotts situation for example, look at it from a rookie hcs prespective. He calls a meeting, everyone comes except one guy whos off talking to the players about whatever and in turn the coaching staff is just waiting around. I can see a reason for griffin to feel a little insecure there.

The other thing is the bit about the players wanting lopez to drop deeper in drop coverage. Thats all they did under bud lol. And theyd get killed for it in the playoffs. Kd-kyrie, miami series. They abused lopez in deep drop coverage. Of course griffin would want try some to implement something different. Why wouldnt he? Overriding the coach so early on that is just plain wrong imo. Try to see if something else can work, different defensive rotations. If you didnt want to do that why fire bud in the first place lol.

The Nine Justifications for the Firing of Adrian Griffin. Sounds like a Hercules Poirot mystery story.
