I am once again asking for more Kris Dunn minutes

  2. Time-Ad-3134

Lauri will be 27 in May and he hasn’t made the playoffs a single time. At this rate he’ll finally make it when he’s 33

Kinda hard to comeback when Steph goes nuclear like that sheesh

Poor rotational decisions but we’ll figure it out imo. Some improvements from the guys here and there tonight compared to the Phoenix game.

Something that I love about our coaching is that good things happen when Dunn is on the court and we keep him off. Good times dor sure.

  6. I know this is a doom and gloom take, but I just hope Lauri doesn’t get frustrated and ask to be traded. He will only tolerate being part of a rebuild for so long.

I think the trade deadlines moves were the right thing to do long term. That doesn’t make watching this team right now any easier, especially for a game as critical as this one. There’s a chance they figure things out again after an adjustment period, but right now it’s roouughhh.

Props to Walker, Collin, and Dunn for showing up at least.

    GAME NOTES:

Man our bench is going to be reallllllllllllllly shaky the remainder of the season. Tonight was definitely decent, 37 points from our bench tonight, but I can see it being an issue moving forward.

We did a pretty good job on Steph tonight, only allowing him 10 points in the first half. Steph is gonna Steph though, scoring 15 in the fourth (all from deep). Credit to Keyonte George for surprisingly good defense. He was running around with Curry all night, which is a tough ask.

Also, credit to the Warriors for their tough defense, especially on Lauri. When Lauri had the ball, they blitzed him, and were very physical with him, which disrupted his rhythm. Something that Lauri can work on is his playmaking, and not getting tunnel-vision. He struggled especially in the first quarter on those blitzes, where he put up some ugly looking shot attempts.

Our top scorer was Jordan Clarkson with 22 points on 7-17 shooting, 4-7 from 3, 4-4 from the line, 4 rebounds (2 offensive), 1 assist, 1 block, 1 turnover. He really got hot in the second quarter where he had a total of 16 points at halftime, but cooled back down the rest of the game. He also put up some bad shot attempts, and went a measly 2-9 from inside the arc. He was a big reason we came back from our double digit deficit, but he is also a big reason why the deficit got so large again.

Collin Sexton didn’t have a bad game, and I wish that we went more to him down the stretch. 17 points on 7-13 shooting, 2-3 from 3, just 1-3 from the line, 5 rebounds (2 offensive), 3 assists, and 2 turnovers. A highlight tonight for Sexton was probably [this tough and-1 layup he hit over Draymond as the shot clock wound down, although he missed the free throw.](https://x.com/UtahJazzClips/status/1757244133104599065?s=20) I wanted him to be more aggressive all game, especially with Draymond in foul trouble. We should’ve ran the fourth through him and Lauri more instead of JC.

Lauri Markkanen didn’t have the most efficient night shooting, but still finished with 19 points on 8-17 shooting, 3-7 from 3, 5 rebounds, and 1 turnover. Like I said earlier, he was having a hard time with the defense that was being played on him. Wiggins & Klay did a great job disrupting him in getting to his spots. It felt like a decent amount of his touches came off of [plays like this](https://x.com/UtahJazzClips/status/1757246409298911624?s=20) where he just catches his defender off guard and cuts hard to the rim.

Walker Kessler had a really great night tonight in my opinion. 11 points on 5-7 shooting, 9 rebounds, 1 assists, 2 steals, 4 blocks, 2 turnovers, 2 fouls in 26 minutes tonight. He started the game alongside John Collins, and offensively we struggled with them both in, but defensively I thought we held it down in the paint. He had a block party in the first half.

Keyonte got the start over Dunn, and struggled offensively. 2-10 shooting, 1-6 from 3, 1 rebound, 4 assists, 2 turnovers, 1 foul, a team low -32 in 29 minutes. As I said before, he did a good job of covering Steph in the first quarter which was promising, but man he looked gassed out there running around all those screens.

Hendricks was the first player off the bench, and went scoreless in 17 minutes. 0-2 shooting, both attempts from 3. 4 rebounds, 1 block, 2 turnovers, 4 fouls. Shaky night for Taylor.

THT was a bright spot in the game (surprisingly). 13 points, 5-9 shooting, 1-3 from 3, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, 2 turnovers, 2 fouls in 16 minutes. He hit some incredible shots, but also took some very boneheaded shots. The THT experience was in full force tonight. I will say when he was in we generally were playing better, but he was also mainly playing against the B unit of the Warriors.

Kris Dunn came off the bench, and shot 1-6 in 19 minutes with 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, 1 turnover, and 2 fouls for 2 points. He looked off, but he did pick up some good steals. He just didn’t look as impactful tonight, which is crazy because he was a team high +7. He was probably one of our best players tonight, but to me his game just looked off. The Warriors are a very physical team, so I’ll chalk it up to that.

I like the starting lineup change, but I think I like having Keyonte come off the bench with JC to help provide a spark. Our bench lineups were not pretty, and we frequently ran a 3 guard lineup. We even rolled out a terrible lineup of Keyonte-Dunn-Sexton-Hendricks-Lauri.

The good: 7 blocks and 8 steals tonight.

The bad: shot selection, turnovers, transition defense, low assist numbers.

    26-28.

Bad night, gonna be tough to make the postseason but some good stuff in there still

  10. That sucked. But it’ll suck way more if I have to hear “with the 12th pick the Oklahoma City Thunder select…” in June, so whatever.

Just feel for the guys (esp Lauri) who have pushed this team to overperform two years in a row and kinda got punished for it at the deadline. Hopefully we’ll be in the playoffs next year.

  11. mrcolty5

I think Hendricks is slowly but surely improving, the one thing he’s gonna have to learn is not falling for the foul bait. Besides that his defensive game+rebounding are great

  12. ExtraFirmPillow_

Hendricks doesn’t pass the eye test. Bust.

I’m starting to think we would’ve been better off had Ainge only made the Donovan trade and we held onto Rudy. Trading Mitchell for a star player in Lauri that actually gives a shit about playing here, only surrounding him with teammates that are actually good instead of whatever the hell the roster currently is would’ve been better than Ainge’s haphazard half-tank, half-compete strategy. We are fucked if Lauri decides to leave in free agency once his contract is up because the FO didn’t commit to building a team that can win fast enough.

Every Warriors fan that was at the game tonight can go fuck themselves with a lunch pail. They were way louder than our fans.

Markkanen had a rough night. Klay decided he was going to be good tonight. Hopefully we get them on Thursday.
