Jayson Tatum REACTS to His Game vs Nuggets | Postgame Interview

Jason were you were you yourself were you healthy were you okay it seemed like you were just kind of days at times in the corner you didn’t you were passing weren as aggressive it just seemed like you’re kind of not like yourself the low shot

Attempts kind of was it you okay yeah I think uh you know I think with the dynamic of our team you know when other guys kind of got it going in our in the Rhythm in the flow uh kind of just we got space to floor right we always talk

About respecting other people’s space um and uh you know I’m I’m always aware of what’s going on during the game and um you know whether it was JB or KP had it going and finding mismatches um you know and like respecting their space um at

Times and if that calls for being in a corner or um you know passing them the ball you know that’s and that’s what we’re trying to do in that possession um you know you got to honor that you at the beginning you took their coverage out tried to make those passes

To the role man and they were able to pick those off they had a clear understanding of what you’re were trying to do so over the course of night how did you try to find counter to the way that they do you well and try to find

Your role in the offense yeah just uh by reading it understanding that what they were trying to take away uh and essentially try to find open man uh and it looks the different each time down the floor but just trying to make the right play uh more often than

That and then on defense you guys are constantly in this battle of like yic is getting through the coverage you need to help off of Gordon or Corner shooter how do you guys figure out when and how you want to help making sure the right guy helps stuff like that

Yeah uh I mean it’s tough right there’s such a good passer that uh you know but sometime you help off the dunker then you know Aaron Gordon’s a great Crasher um so there’s no there’s no wrong answer uh but the right answer can be different um each possession Jason you wanted you respect

And you know more more MVP consideration um do you feel like on stages like this you have to show more did you did you feel like that was there any pressure when a game loan gets a triple double Jaylen has 41 did you you feel like I got to match that or when

You go to a game like this and you know everyone’s looking it going be talking about in the morning how do you come away when you don’t have maybe your best game yeah you know not trying to make it about myself or necessarily individual matchup right

That’s not the way our team is is set up um you know sometimes it just the floow of the game it is your night you you are getting more shots or whatever uh but we just got such a well balanced team that it might not uh necessarily be your your night

Other guys may have it going and you have to um you know you have to respect that I say all the time we we talk about respecting each other’s face um and understanding the the flow of the game so um it’s not it’s not up on me to like

Hijack the game and you know try to make it about me and it’s a national TV game uh other guys had it going so you know if I had to be in the corner if I had to you know be a facilitator at times uh

You know so be it what what was your viewpoint on uh you guys you had that two-on one with Drew and I think it was a either a two-on-one or a three on two that you had a couple turnovers on you guys had as a crew and then obviously

That corner three at the end sort of on those three possessions in the fourth quarter how did you see those play out yeah on the two one you know Drew was ahead of me tried to give him the bounce pass uh fumbled it whatever it may be

And uh you that corner three was a good shot I you know thought it was going in so we had some opportunities that corner three we missed a lot of free throws um you know we had some live ball turnovers that we wish we could for sure

Have back kind along those lines like um you know you’re right there in both of these games obviously next time you would see this team with be in the finals what did you take away from the two games against this team that makes you feel like you know if you saw them

In a series it have a good shot yeah I mean it’s a really good team over there well coach they make right plays more often than not um and you got to beat them you can’t depend on them to like beat theirself and uh you know there

Just really really good ball Club over there and you got to match their physicality and uh work for the best shot on offense and be connected on defense uh to win the game without looking at the film what lessons do you take from this game you know kind of

Piggybacking off what I just said uh can’t beat yourself got to make our free throws uh got to work for the best shot every time down the floor not just you know the first read that we see got to get them moving side to side on defense

Uh and taking care of the ball is is important you know those turnovers kind of led the transition points um the second and third chance opportunities kind of hurt us uh you know without watching the film it’s a very small sample size but in two games you guys

Have not Cho ball for three great against them have they done anything to make the looks more challenging or is it just a matter of you got pretty good looks and in a couple games that didn’t go in uh I mean they’re a good team they’re connected on both ends uh but

You know there were some some open looks that you know we feel like we normally make down knock down that we just uh did it in those those two games thanks J

DENVER — In the highly anticipated MVP showdown against Nikola Jokic, which ended in a 115-109 victory for the Nuggets over the Celtics, Jayson Tatum reflected on his performance, stating, “I’m not trying to make it about myself…We talk about respecting each other’s space and understanding the flow of the game. It’s not upon me to hijack the game and make it about me and it’s a national TV game. Other guys had it going. So if I have to be in the corner, if I have to be a facilitator at times, so be it.” Tatum scored 15 points on a tough shooting night.

  1. I wonder if this "go with the flow", space the floor crap is to spite mazzula or the system they have in place? Like fine you wanna run all these different sets and ball movement, I'll just check out. Like hes trying to prove his value by not doing anything and essentially letting the team figure it out. Its called balance! All 5 players can have an impact on every play man! Celts in 7 though ☘️

  2. He didn't want to be there and it was visible. He got off the ball fast, now trying to act like he was ''giving them their space''. Let me know when the greatest players in the game wanted the ball away from them in the games that mattered most. You're 26 dude, it's either you grow up now and get in the right mindset now….or it never will happen.

Last night is worrying in a big way, the star of a team shying away from the big time is not a good sign. They need to want to win more than they're afraid of looking bad. I'm pretty sure he didn't want that corner 3, but he had no other option but to shoot since he was so open. Change that fear and self-doubt now or the Celtics and Tatum aren't getting a title this year or ever with this current group.

  3. Payton Pritchard should not be getting any minutes this dude is not getting any buckets he's super undersized he's not getting offensive rebounds like he used too and also xavier tilman should not get any minutes that mf can't catch a fucking pass what a fucking joke.

  4. These comments are wild. We have been winning all year I like this loss. Things have been coming too easy this year. We will finish the season with the best overall record in the NBA. Coach Mazzulla has been experimenting with line ups, offenses, and defensive schemes. I like our chances in the playoffs this year. Better reserve judgement until after the playoffs. Everyone got their panties up in a bunch expecting the Celtics to go 70-12 hahahaha

  5. Him and Payton Pritchard … da phonie balonies of da league just like Maxey ans Philly

  6. Can someone ask this man why he gave zero effort in defense and rebounding last night Jesus Christ.

Taking credit for letting JB get off is so whack too. There is room for the both of you unless you’re saying there isn’t.

  7. I want someone to try and fight JT during a game. He’s an incredible player. Just too nonchalant. Doesn’t consistently play with an edge. With and attitude. At this point I think that’s the only way it’s going to happen.

  8. They still struggle against physical teams, this is going to be a problem in the finals. Your default response against physical teams can't be to shoot more 3 pointers.

  9. Tatum choked away his MVP chances today. If anything he should have learned from Kobe is that you need the mamba mentality in big games. Tatum is the reason there is cause to pause in winning the championship. Stop choking and never again take a fade away on game tying or winning games. ! for 11 shooting on those situations is inexcusable and everyone knows you shake and fade move. Give up the rock on those shots or work on getting space on a putting pressure on the rim and has a better chance of drawing a foul. Free throw shooting is 100% focus and confidence.

  10. JT was not motivated at all. Should've fed off of JB's energy. Getting others involve doesn't mean you just sit in the corner and watch the game and not be ready to contribute. Total 180 energy from the Golden state game. I smell a little ego problem that could develope.

  11. Tatum and the team have to learn how to move off the ball against high level basketball teams like the Nuggets.

But this was a measuring stick for the Celtics, and while they did come up short, it’s the little margins that will decide the game that was theirs for the taking. Missing free throws, live ball turnovers, those are things that can be easily cleaned up.

So yea, this stings; and it should sting, so let it. Be ready for a bounce back Saturday game in PHX.

  12. I reject this explanation tonight. I understand others having it going but JT you couldn’t get it going at all? He ain’t giving a good Gottdamn. Look at him yawning and sighing, CMON JAYSON

  13. He is so full of shit!!!! He was not there.. we missed free throws Broo Brown missed Free throws because he was doing everything him self ..
then he want MVP get the hell out of here.. look how many times he was just looking at the ball.. playing weak Defense not putting a body on Griffin…
    Your full of shit ..

  14. Tatum this cannot happen again bro learn from these losses dawg please bc in the playoffs you not gonna have 2nd chances learn to own the moment man

  15. I love you Tatum, but you gotta keep it real.
You didnt do your job tonight, you yourself called yourwelf the best player in the NBA. So you gotta show up and do your part.
15pts, but the 5 turn overs & missed open 3 thats just unacceptable. Specially in a game of this caliber.

Do what you gotta do & make it happen…

  16. Jason do the small stuff, box out, crash the boards and hustle. To me, that extra effort is alot of times, the difference between winning and losing !!!

  17. The difference between brown and tatum is that tatum is by far more talented but brown is fearless. He can play great or miss every shot and he will continue to push the pace and will take the very next shot with no hesitation. True competitor.

  18. Regardless on how the team is playing as a whole. If the Celtics are to win a championship Tatum is going to have to show up Big time and lead. Can’t just sit back and watch like he did in this Denver game.

  19. That is just embarrassing. "Best player in the world"? "Don't want to be in people's space"? You don't deserve to be in the top 10. Jaylen Brown has more heart than you and show up in big games like the finals or last night against the defending Champion that might be in your way of a Championship. If you get there… Just another pathetic Kobe wannabe.

  20. This is ridiculous. he's never gon win a chip with that kind of mindset…respecting each other space? tf? in a team sport? tf he on? yall supposed to be working together as A TEAM it doesnt matter who has it going. IDK if he's going through some emotional stuff being jealous of the Brown/Porzingis connection…but he cant focus on that when he's on the court. I swear all Momma's boys are like this. Always gotta be the center of attention and if they cant have all the spotlight they pout. smh. Look at how gelled and cohesive the Nuggets look. Everybody on high alert, excited and looking out for each other. Boston does NOT have that.

  21. The problem that needs to be fixed is that they lost the final minute of all 4 quarters. You can't win against good teams that way.

  22. I’m happy with Tatum! He’s trying to get his teammates involved. But what happened to Holiday and White? When Tatum is trying to get them involved they have to step it up. Horford too! This is just regular season. Lets just get homecourt advantage and call this regularseason goodbye. Tatum is great. At his age I wouldn’t trade him for anyone. When he’s hot he is on fire!
